I have kind of a strange question. We got attacked by one of the monsters here, but when we tried to fight we couldn't do anything. I couldn't even use my cards! Has anyone here had the same thing happen?

Yeah, we're fine. We just had to run really fast to get away.

Oh. I see, I think. Its like the black towers in the TV show.

This. [Takato fishes in his pocket and pulls a white device about the size of his hand. It had a circular screen with a circle of gold inlaid around it. A line of angular black characters can barely be seen on the gold rim.]

In the TV show if there was a black tower nearby they couldn't evolve at all.

What does that have to do with cards?

Who's "they" that couldn't evolve? Do we have black towers here?

If I scan the cards through it I can make them real.

The characters on the show. I've never seen a real black tower, but the digimon were real. So it's possible.

And I don't know. I was just thinking that it sounded similar to what you said about these chips.

"Real"? In what way? You mean the pictures on the cards?

Aye, so long as you have your chip inside you, that D-Arc probably won't work for you right.

If I scan the Aegis Shield card through, then it will become real and Guilmon can use it.

Then I guess I have to find out how to get rid of it. It would be awful if something happened and we couldn't do anything about it.

So your friend uses whatever becomes real of the card?

Yeah, definitely. Do you know anyone in your area, or even just here on Fortuna?

Yeah, most of them. Some of the cards are more like effect cards.

No. I've only met a few people so far.

Damn. What city are you in kid? At the minimum you find someone to stay with until you get your chip out, even if you normally can handle yourself fine, eh.
