Notes for Bloodletting
I decided to post short bios for the OCs from "Bloodletting"/"No Known Cure". I'm doing this because in the past I've made some inconsistencies with my characters (for example, giving a guy gray eyes in one chapter then brown eyes in the next)and this is a great way to cement characters looks and personalities. That plus I'm sure someone out there might like reading this, lol. And I like talking. XD This is mostly for me, but I guess other people can read it too if they want.
BTW, there will be some spoilers for the fic here, but I'll label 'em so you can avoid if desired.
Notes: Any ages mentioned in the notes is the age the character is during the meat of the story, so 10 years after the attacks on America.
Also, I'm using English measuring system (meaning the American way of measuring things). If there's enough complaints about it, I'll bug my boyfriend to do the conversions, okay? (Don't make fun of my people's heights and weights; I actually looked up statistics for this, and I'm proud of it, damn it.)
Dr. John Tracy
Occupation: Medical Practitioner
Age: 52
Hair: Black (has gone mostly gray, so more of a salt 'n pepper look)
Eyes: Brown
Height: 5' 9"
Weight: 160 lbs
Birthday: May 17
Notes: Leader of a traveling medical team. He is notoriously bad with remembering names, which is one of the reasons why he's glad his team is relatively small. He tends to act like the proud papa of his team, much to their amusement. He genuinely cares for people, even strangers. He's kinda like that nice old guy you meet at the supermarket, you know the one that hands the cashier a nickel for ya when you're a few coins short.
Fun Fact: The character's name originally came from an unpublished Hetalia/James Bond fic I wrote titled "Top Secret" where "John Tracy" was a British government agent. When the fic never took off, I just recycled the names. The "Tracy" part of his name came from the fictional detective, Dick Tracy.
Daniel "Dan" Rosenburg
Occupation: Engineer (specializes in medical equipment)
Age: 28
Hair: Black (usually dyed red)
Eyes: Brown
Height: 5' 7"
Weight: 155 lbs
Birthday: July 22
Notes: Son of a Japanese-American mother and a Southerner father, Dan has distinctly Asian features, but a strong Southern drawl. He tends to be rather calm and quiet (especially compared to his teammates) and usually is the voice of reason in the group. At one point in his life he wanted to be a historian, but after the attacks on the US he studied mechanics in an effort to help the country. He likes watching documentaries, especially ones on conspiracy theories, even if he doesn't agree with them.
Fun Fact: I blame blulious for Dan. She drew fanart of Team Tracy, and she portrayed Dan as a young slim Asian man. The image stuck with me so powerfully that I HAD to make it canon for the story. Originally, I envisioned Dan to look like a lumberjack: big and imposing with a bushy beard. I swear, only blulious can change the headcanon of the writer themselves! (I swear blulious, if I ever meet you IRL, I'm going to buy you a burger.)
Rose Anderson
Occupation: Nurse
Age: 32
Hair: Dark brown
Eyes: Hazel
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 125 lbs
Birthday: September 8
Notes: Rose is aggressive, sharp-tongued, and can be a terrible tease, but that doesn't mean she doesn't care. On the contrary, she's very much the big sister of the group. Her anger can burn pretty hotly, but she's quick to forgive. While she is a romantic, she doesn't date because not only has the perfect man never shown up, but her job takes up most of her time.
Fun Fact: Most of the women in her family are named after plants. In "No Known Cure" Rose had an elder sister, Lily. Lily is likely to be cut from "Bloodletting" so that I don't have to manage a bigger cast than this is already going to be. Major Jacob Andrews is also not likely to return to the storyline.
Dr. Louis Deville
Occupation: Chemist
Age: 32
Hair: Light brown
Eyes: Blue
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 162 lbs.
Birthday: January 18
Notes: Louis is a French chemist. He is rather brilliant, and he knows it. He is not exactly arrogant, but more confident in his abilities. However, underneath his optimism is a strong fear of failure. Obviously, his name is pronounced in the French way: lew-ee rather than lew-ess. (lol at my pronunciation guide.)
Fun Fact: He has a crush on someone, but this was kind of a small thing so I decided to not mention it in the story.
SPOILERS This section marks where I'm going to be writing about characters that haven't shown up in either "No Known Cure" or "Bloodletting" yet. In addition, some of these characters many NOT appear in the final draft of "Bloodletting" at all.
Dr. Philip Evans
Occupation: Chemist
Age: 44
Hair: Dirty blond
Eyes: Gray
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 159 lbs
Birthday: April 3
Notes: Philip is Louis' colleague and the co-developer of the Cure. In his opinion, Louis should not have gone to the States with the Cure. Philip is an American, but during the attacks he was vacationing in France, causing him to be stranded there when the US border was sealed. He doesn't seem to mind, and is in no hurry to return home, but who can blame him with Red Death floating around the country?
Fun Fact: I picked his last name to match a that of a famous fictional character (brownie points if you can figure out who; hint: it was a female). Philip's first name corresponds with Louis' in some way (more brownie points if you can figure out how their names are related, but it should be pretty easy).
Stephen Preston
Occupation: Acting President of the US/Head of CoG
Age: 55
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Blue
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 175 lbs
Birthday: August 11
Notes: Stephen never expected (never really wanted) to be the head of his government, especially not for so long. But in the wake of the attacks, there is little room for democracy, let along an election. Stephen knows he's not the leader that America needs, which is why he's all too willing to listen to the others whispering in his ear. I'm going to try to keep current politics out of this story, but "Bloodletting" if you think about it, is a very political environment (come on, the country just got attacked, the government's got to be involved somehow) so politics will come into play a LOT in "Bloodletting". Preston was created with NO political party in mind, though I'm sure someone or another will say "He's Republican/Democrat/Green Party/Communist/Federalist/etc" and I'm fine with that. He's all of them and none of them at the same time. And if anyone asks me what I think about the government or what my political views are, all I'm gonna say is that George Washington was the only president to get 100% of the electoral college's votes.
Fun Fact: Stephen likes lemon squares.
