Still following PA politics

First, I have to say that it's a shame that Mayor O'Connor passed. I'm sure he would have been a great mayor, and would have helped the city greatly. My thoughts are with his family and the rest of the city. He certainly brought an energy to the office that was missing during the massively corrupt Murphy administration.

His successor is the youngest mayor in Pittsburgh history--he's only 26! While I don't live there anymore, I kind of fear for the city. It's at a turning point right now--it's no longer the shitty rust belt ghost town it was 20 years ago, but it still has a long way to go.  I don't know anything about the new mayor, but I'd imagine he's scared shitless even though he's been in city government for a whole three years.

I'm watching Meet the Press at the moment. It's Santorum vs Bob Casey (the poor excuse for a democrat running against Santorum). Casey's doing fairly well, and Santorum looks like the joke he is. Santorum's shouting, Casey's calm, poised, and is looking him right in the eye. Even during the Plan B discussion (casey's pro-life but still supports plan B), Casey did OK.
It upsets me that Santorum, the man who likened homosexuality to bestiality, was elected by Pennsylvanians to begin with. It frankly makes the state look terrible. I disagree with Specter on many things, but I respect him, and I don't mind that he represents PA. He brings dignity to the office, at least. The word "Santorum" has a new meaning now.
