So, we went to Beeville to celebrate with the C family as their daughter J got married. We had a lot of fun. I was sick most of the time, but I was feeling better by the time we got to the reception. As a matter of fact, I was feeling so good that I got out there and did a little booty shaking of my own!
It was the first Catholic wedding I ever went to. It was really nice and I wasn't standing for nearly as long as I thought I would be. We actually got to sit for quite a bit of it. The wedding itself pretty much went off without a hitch (well, except for the getting hitched part!). J was such a beautiful bride! Hopefully I can get some pics from her brother soon and I will post a couple. J's brother's girlfriend did our hair and it was beautiful! It was tied half-back with fat ringlet curls falling. We were definitely fortunate that she was there! She had someone come out and do our makeup. I have never had my makeup done by anyone else before, so this was a new experience for me. It was a lot darker than I would have ever worn myself, but I know that she did it that way because we would probably be otherwise washed-out in the pics. I didn't end up looking like
Mimi did my makeup, so that was a good thing.
Being the "little Baptist girl" that I am, I screwed up when we took communion. I was one of the first people and couldn't see how the others were getting their bread from the deacon, so when it came to my turn to go up there, I wasn't really sure of what to do. He blessed the bread and I went to take it from his hand, but he looked at me funny...so I put my hand out for him to give it to me. Well, he apparently didn't see this, because he still didn't give it to me. At this point I am wondering, "am I supposed to just open my mouth and he puts it in there??" So, that's what I did. It was entertaining for all of the Catholics there.
We finished the wedding and went to the hotel to rest for about an hour before the reception started. We ate some really good BBQ at the reception and they had a (rather large) live mariachi band playing there. It was really neat. We finished the dinner and then it wasn't looking too good. The bride had a bit of a meltdown (don't blame her) because the stupid DJ didn't have the song that the groom and his mother were supposed to dance to, when they specifically told him which songs they needed. Well, after many tears and much frustration, someone found the CD with the song on it and all was well. The dancing started a bit late, but we had fun nonetheless.
I am so happy for J & J and their new life together. I know that they are a good match and I hope that they will have many blessed years together.
