He’s always smiling, but there’s something about that smile that hurts inside. Even when he laughs, eyes watching Kurogane’s reaction to his latest joke, she can feel a slight echo of pain he refuses to acknowledge, or share. She does not ask why he holds the pain so closely; she has a feeling that he might crumble if he stops running.
So she does what she can to help ease the pain. She smiles, she laughs, she tries to get him to absorb the fact that she loves him as much as Kurogane or Mokona. He is a dear friend.
