SO! If you've been wondering what I've been nattering about over the last little while when I talk about "my writing" or "that big project, here is the official announcement.
The Women’s & Gender Studies Program at Suffolk presents:
Carolyn Salvi
Other Worlds, Other Genders
What do teens learn about sexuality from popular Young Adult novels? How do science fiction and fantasy help shape thinking about gender? Why should we care what Game of Thrones says about women and men?
Thursday, March 20, 1:00-2:15pm, Poetry Center
3rd floor, Sawyer Library, 73 Tremont St. Building
For more information, contact Michèle Plott at
mplott@suffolk.edu
To get there, take the red or green line to Park Street and walk up the Tremont towards the capital building. 73 Tremont is right across from the Omni Parker hotel. Go in the front door, sign in at the desk, and proceed to the second floor via the elevators. Signs within the library will direct you to the Poetry Center.
I've worked really hard on this paper and while I think the ideas have further to go, I'm excited with what I have so far. I'd love it if any of you could attend, and please feel free to pass the word.
N.B. The talk actually ended up not talking about Game of Thrones at all, but if you come to the talk to you can absolutely ask me questions about it anyway!
