[20 of 100] No More Christmas

Jan 04, 2009 22:28

We took down the Christmas tree today. I wrapped up the ornaments carefully; putting away the Fairy Ballerina Dog, the santa-hat wearing frog, the blown-glass dragon, the fox nestled inside a pinecone, the raven that sits atop the tree, and all the rest, to come out again next year. I usually wait until the Epiphany to take down the tree, but today was the right day for it as I prepare the house and myself to start back into a regular routine again tomorrow. Still, the front of the living room looks a little bare to me now. The light and sparkle of the tree, the magic of having a thing like that in one's home...well, it appeals to me no matter the season.

I am sititng here with Tish watching NBC's newest international dance competition, "Superstars of Dance" which has eight countries competing in solo, duet, and group performance. The Argentinian Tango couple was so completely beautiful and sexy, they immediately sent Tish and I working on figuring out whether or not we can take an Argentinian tango class at CCAE this winter. However, I have this to say: SHAOLIN IS NOT A DANCE FORM. They are amazing, athletic martial artists, but they are not dancers. The Russian soloist was an amazing, playful, expressive performer but she got (relatively) abominable scores. I am completely unsurprised to find that I think the judges are largely smoking crack.

holidays, dance, 100 days, tango
