This is my new bike!!!!!
It is a silver 21-speed Marin Larkspur, 19" frame. I think her name is Matilda. I am amazingly, truly, deeply in love with it. I am happy at the nice man at Broadway Bicycle School who sold it to me, who reminded me strongly of my foster-brother. And I am grateful beyond words to
desiringsubject for coming with me and helping me talk and think through what I was looking for.
I have been wanting a new bike ever since August, when I rode a Gary Fischer comfort bike in P-town and realized how annoying I find my old bike. Then Tish's parents came back to this continent for awhile and needed their car back--the one I've been using since May. They are going to be here for some months, and while there is only one thing in my life that I regularly NEED a bike for, because it's just a bit too far to walk with my schedule, there are lots of things in my life that having a bike for will make more pleasant. I always love being on bikes once I get on them, but there were enough things proportionally not right for me with my old bike that I was notably reluctant to actually get on it.
On Tuesday after teaching I will go over to SCD and
desiringsubject will help me trick out the bike to make it YET MORE AWESOME. We'll be adding a fenders, toe clips, and a rack, not to mention moving my kickstand, lock-holder, and light clip from the old bike onto the new one. I will use Tish's balaclava that he doesn't use much anymore, and next month I'll buy some good gloves. And then...WHEE!!!! Actually, forget about "then". Right now, WHEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
