Crazy Politics

So Romney just suspended his bid for the Republican nomination. His rhetoric about why he is doing so is whack-tastic. According to CNN, Romeny said that if he continued to run it would "forestall the launch of a national campaign and be making it easier for Sen. Clinton or Obama to win." He continued with these gems:
"In this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror. This is not an easy decision. I hate to lose," the former Massachusetts governor said.

"If this were only about me, I'd go on. But it's never been only about me. I entered this race because I love America, and because I love America, in this time of war I feel I have to now stand aside for our party and for our country."

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? Now the Democrats are aiding terrorists? Since when? After all, isn't Hillary losing ground amongst many (particularly younger) voters because she continues to stand by her vote for the Irag war?

On the one hand, I am really glad to see Romney out of the race because he is a slimey nut job. On the other hand, I recognize that McCain is a much more formidable opponent.

This election has me all in jitters. I'm actually reading the news again consistently, for the first time since I started grad school.
