This was a fabulous trailer! Better than any of the actual Merlin trailers I've seen.

Thanks a lot! I've found some okay official trailers for it but it took a few really awesome fanvids to get me into the show so maybe the BBC needs to take a different approach lol. Their promos make it look a lot campier, I think o_O

Thanks!! Haha another ten times, wow I really appreciate hearing that. I love how this one came out so getting this kind of response is always so nice :o)

And yeah, I've got three music videos I'm making for it...and maybe one or two short little promos for my favorite eps? Maybe. Someone already did a Merlin mv to one of the songs I'm using but theirs is a general visual piece and mine is a dark Merlin/Arthur character study so I'm not worried about overlap....

\o/
& i wouldn't worry about someone else already having vidded the song - yours is gonna be better anyway *g* no, but there are so many good vids that use a song that has already been used multiple times... (also: now i'm really wondering about what your favorite episodes may have been!)

Yeah, I've never been one to be bothered by others having done the same music/show already. I have my own vision for things so it doesn't worry me.

Hmm...my very favorite episode would be The Labyrinth of Gedref. I just can't get sick of watching that one. Funny banter...rat stew...curses, famine, drought, unicorns...and of course, the end scene on the beach where Arthur is willing to die for Merlin. AGH! That's one of my top favorite scenes in the entire series.

I'm also very partial to The Once and Future Queen and The Sins of the Father. I have no problem watching those over and over. But hey, I pretty much love every ep so it's a hard call :o)

OMG, that was breath-taking! Amazing trailer! You really should do the trailers for the BBC. *thumbs up*

I especially loved the part when they all screamed in anger or fear, and your choice of music was just perfect.

I'm downloading it right now in my newly created folder with your name on it. :D I'm pretty sure I'm gonna need that folder in the future... ^^ (hehe, sometimes I'm pretty organised *lol)

I've got one question though... how did you get rid of the background music? Or did you only use clips without original music? I've to say it's a bit of a pain with the Merlin DVDs, because they're not in 5.1 dolby sourround but in stereo, this way I'm not able to seperate the voices from the background score. Do you know a way of doing it?

Thanks a bunch, chay! The music is from the new Robin Hood trailer so it had that medieval feel to me.

As for your question...I did not get rid of the background music. It is a HUGE pain in the ass working with stereo rather than 5.1 sound. Being a big BBC production, I'm not sure why they only used 2 channels for the DVDs but it drove me crazy making this trailer. However, it's not the first time I've had to use sound effects and dialogue with background music so I've got a good enough feel for it...background music from the show is definitely there in most of the clips I used. I just did my best to balance the levels enough that it mostly blends in with the trailer music and tend to hope that no one notices lol. But it's clearly there in a few places, it's just less obvious if you're not listening for it. Now that I've told you, you're probably going to notice it though :P

Okay, either my hearing is really, really bad or you just did a fantastic job in blending in the original sound... fact is, even after several re-watches I can't recognise it. :D

Yes, that's something I can't understand either. I was so happy when I held the DVDs in my hands, so I could finally do proper voicer overs, but then... nothing! :(

Anyway, I just wanna let you know that I'm gonna use your trailer to show everybody who still needs to be convinced how brilliant Merlin is! *lol*
