Surfing is wonderful! I thought it might be. I've been missing riding so much (it's the hunting season, in England - at least it used to be. My father must be furious about the ban. He's from a Watcher family so he'd never break that kind of law, we don't draw attention to ourselves, but he loved being Master of Fox Hounds. Hunting must be the only interest we still have in common.)

Surfing in a wild sea has some of that same feeling of controlling a wild, primeval force (and straining every muscle to the limit to do it. You don't feel it while you're riding, it's afterward.) The waves were really high and it probably wasn't a sea to learn on, but I heal so quickly now and - it was fun, wild fun. I can't wait for the next lesson.

That may make up for Valentines day. The romantic evening on the beach had to end very early and the caves under the Inn are cold and damp - I had to be shut in, though. There were too many people who might have wanted a romantic Valentine's stroll on the beach under that big, beautiful full moon. (I have a vague memory of the chilly stones and hearing too many people and the scents and - well, I hope I didn't howl.)
