Hushed

It was a daily routine, and undoubtedly their favourite time of the day. The dim glow illuminated by the few surrounding street lamps provided just enough light for a clear visibility without stealing the mere gentle subtleness that they were aiming for.

It was a space not known to many, somewhere that they had found while padding through the streets together after sundown, time barely the essence of their worries, but instead something that they perceived as a baseless word rather than the harsh concept that they had so little of. The sound of the constant ticking locked up in the back of their mind, forgotten for just a while. They felt as if they had just stepped into the pages of a book when they had seen it. How could something so beautiful be hidden away from their sights for so long?

It was a little empty park of some sort. A few large oak trees surrounding the small irregular shaped space, acting as a majestic gateway to a space of serenity and simplicity. A pebble path that coiled around the park leading up to an engraved circle in the centre. The circle was empty, just an engraved circumference with an empty centre. Yet it held such a deep pull just by the sight of it. Kyuhyun and Sooyoung had stumbled upon what they called their mystery jackpot. There was something surreal about the place that they had felt the minute they laid eyes on it. It felt like a fragment of their imagination, because they could have sworn that this space was just another normal alley meet-up in uptown Seoul. But there was no way that they could just walk by it and pretend that had not seen it. And so they carved the little park into their lives, etching it within them as their little special spot that they felt they needed to have.

Kyuhyun was sitting cross legged with his back leaned against the oak tree with a tupperware of tuna sandwiches in his lap and a bag of potato chips in his hand. His flight back from Japan had touched down a few hours earlier, and as sleepy and hungry as he was after his day of belting out on stage, he had caught a taxi to a stop a few blocks away from his dorm building and walked to the park with his suitcase tailing behind him. As happy as he was to see his girlfriend after what seemed like forever, the potato chips and sandwiches she had laid out on the grass in front of her was all his heart could make sense off.

Sitting on the grass a few feet in front of him, Sooyoung pulled a face as she watched him stuff his face, not even giving her a single glance.
"These are really good sandwiches, who made them? Taeyeon?" he asked her, munching on his 7th sandwich from the now half empty tupperware. "I did...." she answered blankly. Is making sandwiches that hard to believe?
"No seriously nice one, who made them?" he chuckled, only stopping when he met her dead gaze in front of him.
Sooyoung got up, brushed the grass off her skirt, walked towards him, lifted the tupperware and the potato chips from his lap and set them down beside him before sitting on his lap in their place.
"Well aren't you a clingy one?" Kyuhyun laughed, wrapping her hands in his.
"I actually made those sandwiches you idiot."
"I-I knew that."

A small smile played on her lips. Leaning her head against his chest, she looked around them. They were obviously the only ones there. The sky had decided to take on a darker shade of indigo, the icy chills piercing through the wind somehow visible against the backdrop of the night sky. It was a comfortable silence, a warm silence that enveloped them.

"I missed you." he said softly, kissing her forehead.
She lifted her head off his chest and turned to face him slightly, after what seemed like forever, the feeling of his lips on hers left the tips of her fingers tingly as they were intertwined with his before pulling away. The sound of her light laugh rang through the crisp air as he leaned forward again and stole another quick kiss.

"Ew you taste like tuna.."
"Really? I was aiming for barbecue." Kyuhyun shrugged, stuffing his face with more potato chips.
