the reason why i haven't said anything about ruvic rea's case since the last time is this:
on tuesday, two weeks ago, ruvic's house was broken into and certain pieces of evidence were stolen. after that i couldn't get hold of her long enough to know what exactly happened, and i was afraid of getting in the way of an important inquiry, so i waited for updates.
the next update came on thursday morning. ruvic called briefly to say she and steven were packing up, getting ready to stay in another town temporarily. "it's no longer safe for us here," she said.
since then i have been occupied with work and short on cell phone load, so i have not been able to call them up. i've also been under the impression that they wish to lay low. i presume that the robbery was not the last of the harrassment.
having hit a wall with the embassy and investigative media, i continued to update danton remoto by email on the issue as soon as i learned about it. but while i was waiting for the reply, the EDSA fiasco broke out, and it seems everyone in the media suddenly became preoccupied.
