Another post...finally...!
So we here at the Hive have finally settled into New Hive. The place is very new (the building is only about a year old), very large, and very posh (lots of marble and such). And still just as creepy at night as Old Hive!
Oh well...Cie la Vie.
Anyway, we've been very busy and my fellow zombies and I have been working our fingers to the bone. Unfortunately, it's all government contract work/proposals and such so I'm not allowed to talk about it XP! Honestly...those gov types are sooooooo paranoid!
On the home front, the Youngest as been taking on all responsibilities for the Japan trip. I know, right?! Color me shocked, too! But everything has been going well (so far). She selected a travel agency based out of the UK and they have put together a smashing itinerary based off of monies available and what we would like to do! We are so excited! The only down side is that we have to purchase plane tickets and travel insurance on our own because of some law that forbids them from doing that for customers outside of the UK. Bugger!...I mean...Bummer!
The Youngest had decided that she would pay for the plane tickets herself (I KNOW, I don't know how much more of this my heart can take!) and last night decided that this was THE night to purchase the tickets and she did! Her poor bank account! Now it's up to me to get the travel insurance and make the final payment to the Travel People...MY poor bank account! So I've purchased the travel insurance through World Nomads as recommend by The Lonely Planet people, which I might add was MUCH easier to do than I thought, and now it's on to the TPeople.
Previously I had refused to make the final, rather large payment to the TPeople, til the plane tickets were purchased...in case some dire catastrophe befell us before the tickets were bought and we had to change dates or plans or go to a funeral or...or...or something! But now that they are bought and the date is practically engraved in stone, it's time. Goodbye Hard-Earned Monies. Goodbye and farewell.
I don't think my bank accounts have been cleaner! LOL.
Now to plan for the rest of the trip XD! How much money to bring, what to pack, how to keep the airlines from bending us over for their baggage/other fees...all that good stuff. This is almost as frightening as when I left my ex-SO and moved out on my own. A foreign country on the other side of the world whose culture is SO different from my own (the words International Incident and thrown out keep popping up in my head!), whose main language isn't English and me not knowing anything but the most basic of their language, if that.
Boy...when I do things, I do them BIG! Just go ALL out! don't I! I have to laugh. I've always wanted to travel and now that I finally get a chance to do so I'm scared out of my mind! Japan is awfully far away and all sorts of things could go wrong and what DO you do about the language barrier, the cultural barrier, the geographical barriers when you've never even been off the eastern coast of your own country?
Okay, now I'm just scaring myself and being way too silly! I think once we actually get there things will be just fine and I'll probably end up wishing we could have afforded a longer trip.
Well, I'm off. No, not in THAT way...well okay, maybe I am...but that's not what I meant. The Middle Child's birthday was this last Monday and today is the day he picked to go for his "It's A Family Tradition Birthday Dinner(TM)". Ruby Tuesday, here we come! Later, y'all!
