Well training for my new job is over and I took a break by going to see two movies today. I can not rave enough about Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns! I cried so much, from the pathos as well as laughing so hard, that when I left the theater my eyes and nose were so red people probably thought I'd gotten terrible news or something. I went with my oldest daughter who loved it just as much as me though she's not as emotional. Oh I love this movie!
And Angela Bassett! OMIGOSH! I've always liked her, she's a great actress and how I'd long for her to be Storm but of course we all know how that turned out. She was simply wonderful. You really felt her plight as a single mother not knowing how she was going to make ends meet. And her best friend was so funny I thought she should have her own sitcom. I'll need to look her up, find out who she is. She was beautiful and I loved her thick accent. And of course Angela looked great - no, marvelous! She looked too young to be the mother of that good looking son of hers! I really liked him. And Jennifer Lewis was hilarious and excellent! Rick Fox, nice to look at and not bad at all. Everyone was excellent. A funny little interlude with Madea, one of the main reasons I went to see it, but nothing much to do with the movie but still, it's Madea. I give this movie an A+
I saw Miss Pettigrew Lives For a Day. Saw that about two hours later at a different theater and enjoyed that immensely too. It had a sweet message and the older actors finding love and understanding what war would be like yet again really touched me. That man, must look him up too, could be Alan Rickman's brother if they ever needed to find an actor for a part like that. Everyone was good in it. I forgot Lee from Pushing Daisies was in the movie and kept looking at him wondering where I'd seen him before, thought he looked a bit like Clive Owen though not as rugged. He was excellent, Amy Adams was superb, of course Frances was wonderful, the whole cast was. A very entertaining movie. Amy's lighthearted energectic performance was adorable. I liked her in Enchanted, of course liked her as "Hot Pam" on the Office. She's very talented. It's good to see a talented actress get good parts. I give this movie a good solid A.
Also saw Be Kind Rewind Sunday after being with the family all day and a little shopping (bought a white trench coat of all things from White House Black Market). The movie was funny but far fetched. Mos Def was quite appealing to me and I always think Jack Black's funny. Some good moments but my teenaged daughter thought it wasn't good and had a lot of boring parts. I'm a big Danny Glover fan too so maybe that helped. It was also interesting to see Mia Farrow after not having seen her in so long. Busy, busy weekend.
So, I'm not dead, just consumed with work, 10 hour days. I hope all are well and for those who celebrate Easter I hope you all had a good day.
No story updates. Sorry. Every time I start on AS&CW I don't seem to be able to make it work.
