For the last couple of weeks I've been doing almost nothing really productive. And enjoying every minute of it.
That's the magic of the summer vacations. We really don't have money to go anywhere, so instead we just stayed at home where I can spend my days reading, Rodrigo working on his doctoral thesis and Connie playing outside with her friends or splashing in her little pool.
The good thing of living in this city is that we have a lot of beaches nearby, so whenever we feel like it, we just go and spend the day in one of them.
It has been a lazy and adorable summer so far.
The only exception to the lazyness is that I'm working on creating a new course for a new workplace. I'll still work at my university, of course, but last january I got a call offering me another teaching position on a technical college (starting in march) and I was glad to accept, because it's one step further in achieving my dream of someday working as a full time professor.
I have to create a new class from scratch and it has been challenging but fun so far. It also means I'm gonna get a nice sum of money once I finish it (I had no idea that creating a course was so profitable!!!). And as nice as being lazy is, it's also good to have the opportunity to excercize my brain cells so they don't rust with these long vacations. :D All in all, a win/win situation.
In other news THE SHERLOCK FANDOM ATE MY ENTIRE BEING. Seriously. When I said it seemed like the right show for me, I never imagined that it would take over my life with the force of a hurricane, my GOD, but this show and its characters and Sherlock and John and John/Sherlock...!!!
OK, don't make me start because then I won't be able to stop. Every day I NEED to watch at least a few minutes of any episode and I've been consuming an absurd amount of fanfic. AND IT PAINS ME SO MUCH TO KNOW THAT I'LL HAVE TO WAIT A WHOLE YEAR UNTIL SERIES 3. I don't know how will I manage. T___T
The good thing is that I dragged my sister to the fandom, hehehe. She refused to watch Sherlock because it was too "mainstream" for her, apparently (LOL) so I had to bribe her into watching.
Of course she fell under Sherlock's spell as quickly as I did. So now we fangirl together exactly as we did in the good old times of SPN. It's great to have a sister who shares your fandoms.
All in all, a perfect summer so far. :D
