A few things [Please Read~!]

Alright, guys. I'm gonna preface this post by saying that some of it may come off sounding mean-spirited or accusing. It isn't meant to be, I promise. But as tone is difficult to convey in print and some of my statements/comments are rather direct, that tone may be unavoidable. It's not my intention, though, and I apologize in advance if ( Read more... )

Honestly, the reason why I first friended you? So that I would see your updates on my friends page. I did that for a lot of journals, even though I was a very silent reader at first! It just makes it easier to see updates that way. Now that i've been on lj for a while, i try to comment more. It's not easy, and I know i'm not very good at providong con-crit, but i try? In thanks to the author, for sharing their work.
Glad you're alive <3

You, my dear, were not one I was worried about at all. XD You are one of the few outside my IRL friends (who I just pester until they comment... O_o) that I know will comment at least semi-regularly if not on every chap. It is much appreciated. ♥
And I never considered the point about updates showing up on flists. I always get the comm updates right on my flist, so I actually try to avoid friending authors unless their fics are locked just to avoid the massive crossposting. Never thought about the fact that not everyone has their LJs set up like that. (I'm great at fiction, but I tend to be a bit of an airhead in the real world. My Dad used to call me blond at heart. >_<) Anyway, thanks for the comment and letting me know. ^_^
And yay for being alive~! XD

Ahh, thank you, dear. ^_^ And seriously, I never meant to guilt anyone into commenting or anything. Like I said, I'm not always the best at it either. I just had no idea why people were friending me in the first place. I always see all the comms on my flist, and I guess it never occurred to me that not everyone does. *shrugs*
Yay~! I really don't want you to feel pressured into commenting constantly or anything, but of course I'll never mind hearing from you every once in a while. ^_^

Playing echo to the other two for the most part. Not that I exactly friended you recently. XD ...Although, actually, did I friend you cause of fic or did I friend you cause of a friending meme? It's been a while. ^^; Either way, I DO sometimes friend authors I like, even if their fics aren't locked, precisely because then updates show up automatically on my flist and it makes it easier to find them again later if I want to reread something.

I've unfortunately sort of disappeared from LJ lately. A large part of that was being involved in WAY too many writing challenges/exchanges for the last couple months, though, so maybe I can fix that, at least. If I avoid signing up for even more of them no matter how tempting trope_bingo is.

Huh. Now that you ask that question, I don't remember either... XD Either way, though, you were one of those names where I know we've interacted at some point, even if not recently. ^^ That reason does make sense. Guess I was just so confused because all the comms show up on my flist anyway, so it's just as easy for me to see updates there as on the author's journal.

Yeah, I'm currently debating whether to sign up for the JaeMin prompts challenge. I want to focus on GBtR and get it finished, but at the same time, it'd be nice to have something else to break it up at times, too. *shrugs*

Oh my god, there's a JaeMin prompts challenge? *runs to see* Oooooh, that one's tempting. But I don't write that much JaeMin. Maybe I'll just steal one of the tables and do OT5 instead or something. XD Or actually, you know, work on a WiP. That might be an idea, too.

Since there's no time limit, I think it'd be useful if you got into a bit of writer's block or something. Put down GBtR, pound out a 500 word challenge ficlet, then go back. You should totally do it. *nods*

Re: friending- I think I got into the habit because in a lot of my older fandoms, sometimes a majority of the authors I liked didn't ever post to the main comms (if there even was one), and then there was the whole meltdown in DBSK over hug/detox's rules, so... XD

JaeMin was my first ever pairing written for DBSK, but it's been a while... Yes, I fully support you finishing any WiPs you may have~~ ^_^

Exactly~~ That's pretty much the reason I'm thinking about it. Just a way to give my brain something fresh to think about, get it kick-started or whatever.

Ahh, that makes sense. And, yeah, hug/detox got pretty crazy for a while there. Luckily it's all basically calmed down since then.

when i first join lj and started reading ff from it, i instantly befriended a writer out of courtesy and the feeling of not wanting to get locked out of a story (not really familiar with the track a user feature at that time)... so my friends and mutual friends were piling up to hundreds...
i tried not to be a completely silent reader but sometime i can only read briefly and have to do something else since i stole my time reading at the office (hahaha... i know, bad me...)
after much reading and clicking lj features i discovered the track user button and i just track users i want to read their updates to and if i like it i put my comment in... so yeah... i have lots people i tracked (i need to be a paid account to do that) and unless they lock their journal i don't really have to add them as friends.

Thanks for the reply~~ ^_^

Yeah, that does make a lot of sense. I've never really used the tracking feature, so that option never even occurred to me...
