This is from one of my very favorite illuminated manuscripts, dating from the eighth century. It is what is called a "carpet page", from the Lindisfarne Gospels. It contains intricate knots, mazes, spirals and zoomorphic images. One of these days I hope to perhaps make a copy of this page.

Just a quick update before I sack out--had a lovely time at Gulf Wars. Spent most of it at Scribe's Point, AKA, the Dungeon, where I did the calligraphy for two master scrolls, and painted a very lovely scroll for a Glean Abhann award--first time for me to paint a scroll for the new kingdom.
