Today has been a strange mix of good and bad. The roofers arrived earlier than expected, so we really had to rush around when we first got up.
I did a few household chores, but nothing in the sewing room, since it's full of empty boxes. I did get all of the laundry caught up. Since the roofers started on the garage roof today, we couldn't really take the bins of Christmas decorations out, and it's one more day of not getting the tree down and out of the living room.
OTOH, after lunch we went out to our local home furnishing store, and we picked out our dishwasher. AND the DH decided we needed a new stove as well, so we also picked out a new gas range. Put a down payment on both, and then after the kitchen remodel is done, we will pay them off.
On Friday our new sink arrived. Here's a link:

We have also ordered a tile mural:
https://www.tilemuralstore.com/images/products/preview/15-3527.jpg The cost on it was very reasonable.
This will be centered above the stove, and will have a plain backsplash around it, using the same tiles as our backsplash we will be putting on the sink wall. Choosing the tiles for THAT, however, is not going as well, because I am having a very hard time finding what I want within our budget. And what with the splurge on the stove and the sink, we are going to have to stick to budget from here on out.
The mural really helped me solidify the color scheme for the whole kitchen. We will be using the blue of the birds for the breakfast nook walls and for the lower cabinets, and then we'll use a pale yellow for the kitchen walls and upper cabinets, with the trim on the windows, doors and baseboards being a bright sunflower yellow.
But then after we got home from the store, we spent several anxious hours looking for the DH's wallet! It goes missing on a regular basis, but is usually found in a few predictable places: his car, my car, in a pair of jeans in the laundry basket, or stuffed down the side of his chair. But not today. We looked and looked and looked and looked. We tore the bedroom apart and looked on, over and under all the furniture.
Finally, when he was about ready to give up and start calling the credit card company, he decided to look in the bedroom one more time: there it was in a place we BOTH had looked more than once. He maintains we didn't see it because it is the same color as the furniture it was on top of (a chest that sits at the foot of our bed).
I, however, am sure that a gremlin had it, and just put it back at the last second to drive us nuts.
Made spaghetti and meatballs for supper, and in a little while we'll watch one of our favorite HGTV shows,
Home Town. It's set in one of Mississippi's more picturesque small towns, and the couple who host it are absolutely adorable. I think I may even like them more than Chip and JoAnna Gaines.
And I don't have to wait and watch on DVR, since the library is closed for MLK day, so no knitting circle tonight.
How's everyone else's day gone?
