For a child has been born for us,
a son given to us;
authority rests upon his shoulders;
and he is named Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

This is one of my favourite readings of all time. Isaiah sure knows how to say it -thanks to the H.S. of course. There is so much hope in these words! A proclamation made generations before Mary and Joseph made there way to the tiny 'City of David'. It was a proclamation made to a disheartened people of Israel, and that still echoes in the hearts of millions around the world. Tonight, I heard these words proclaimed in the church as I sat squished in between my dad and my sister, and I thought of the simplicity and majesty of the Christ-child. He lay there, born of a virgin, true God and true man, in a manger. That Child, that Saviour, that Prince of Peace is the man who saved the world. The man who loved us all so much that He humbled Himself to live among us. And as I sat there, hearing those words of God called out to the congregation, I realized the blessing of Christmas.

For my family, I am so thankful.
For my friends, I am thankful.
For the wonderful community that supports me in my ministry, challenges me to grow, and worships with me, I am thankful.
For trust,for forgiveness, for faith, for hope, for joy, and for love, I am thankful.

For the miracle of Christ...I can not be thankful enough.
