And there was Monte

Being the sports fanatic that I can sometimes be I had the tv station on ESPN on Thanksgiving Day while getting our dinner coordinated and there was a dog show championship being held that caught my attention. I carefully viewed all of the different breeds that they had during the event, as Ive always had a desire to buy a dog in the retriever family but wasnt sure what exactly I wanted yet. Then they had a retriever that fascinated me, The Chesapeake Bay Retriever. I loved all of the characteristics that it had , considered to be the most water loving dog period with a double layered coat that can withstand even the most frigid water temperatures. This dog was an active fun loving sporting dog that really caught my eye. Being that I live just a side step away from Lake Dunlap in New Braunfels this location would be heaven for a dog like this. I mentioned that I would like to have one of these on my wish list and sure enough my gf manda went out the same day of the post and actually found someone in San Antonio that had 4 pure bred championship blood line puppies for sale. We went out today to feel out their personalities and temperament and found one that was super friendly. It was love at first site, as the dog took the liberty to shower my gf with licks. We put $30 down and will come back and pay the rest on the 16th, the owner is kind enough to hold the one we want until then. The one we choose was really distinguished looking with a very obvious dark tint to its face with the paws even being a shade darker than the rest of its body. Definitely eating healthy, it had the biggest belly of any of the other 3 pups and had a uncanny resemblence to its father as the parents were also onsite for us to see. I can already see this animal being a perfect fit, we're going to arrange to have its eight way shots taken every couple of weeks since he is only 8 weeks old. We're also going to look into joining an obedience class at the Petsmart just a few miles away. I sense there is going to be a lot of adventure in having this dog and it'll settle in as a member of the family verrry quickly lol oh yeah and his official name by joint decision will be Monte, after the Count of Monte Cristo.
