Hey. So, at this moment, who would you vote for--John Kerry or George Bush? I have to say I would definitely vote for Kerry. He's not necessarily the most charismatic or exciting presidential candidate to ever run, but he's got a lot of great qualities and he's not Bush. I do not agree with Kerry 100% on his politics and I do not think that he stands firm enough on a lot of the more liberal issues. I also am not naive enough to think that anyone could say they are as liberal as I want and still get elected in this country.
I just cannot abide that Bush is taking his own personal religious beliefs and forcing them down our throats while trying to take a way our civil liberties that every man and woman in this country deserves, regardless of age, sex, color, religion or sexuality. I completely respect a person's right to have his or her own morals and religious beliefs, but this country was founded on the principle of seperating those beliefs from our government. What I see people like Bush and Ashcroft doing quite frankly scares me.
And don't even get me started on the war. Its just become a mess. People lied. If Bush really didn't know that it was a lie, and I quite honestly think he did, then he is the kind of man that choses to surround himself with liars and that is just as disturbing.
The DNC actually made me feel more confident about my choice in Kerry as a chioce in him and not just against Bush. I was impressed by his speech. Iwas also impressed by Al Gore's speech and I wish we would have seen that Gore four years ago. I really was impressed by what he said. Am I better off than I was four years ago? Hell no! Do I think that the two choices of canidates are so alike now? God no! I don't think we would be in the state that we are in now if Gore was in office. 9/11 I thin kwas unavoidable, no matter who the president was. The war itself may have been unavoidable to some degree. But the way we handled going into it and alienating the entire world when we did it was and I don't think Gore would have done it.
I feel no guilt knowing that I voted Gore four years ago and I will go into life with a good conscious knowing that I am voting Kerry this year.
I'm so sorry for the amazingly long rant. I just realized how long it is, but once I get started on this stuff, I can't stop.
