A death in the family

Nov 02, 2007 01:20

Has it really been 39 weeks since the last time I posted anything here? Wow.

On Friday, November 2, 2007 at around 12:30a.m. Misty Voitle was laid to rest. She was one of the best friends I've ever had. Her demeanor was quiet, but she was alive with brilliant a energy. Her presence in this household will be missed for the remainder of my days. Tex, and newcommer Buddy, are both dealing with the loss quite well. They seem to sense that something is amiss, but can't really place what it is.

For those who don't know, Misty, my 10-year-old canine companion, fell ill about three weeks ago when she began to have seizures. The doctor placed her on a dosage of Phenobarbital to control them and, as of tonight, that plan has failed. Despite our attempts, we could not get the seizures under control. I took her back to the doctor tonight to say goodbye and offer her the rest and peace I couldn't seem to give her any other way.

I love you Misty. You were a great friend and companion to me when I needed you most. We seemed to find each other by fate, but you're job is done. You can rest. Good Girl.
