Whoo! Last night was my first night back at work! It was... a bit exhausting, but I met a good deal of promising Freshmen workers! I hope they stick with it. Particularly Danny and Colten, since they're both fun guys! I did like meeting Kayla and David too, but they left earlier than the other two. |D

LOLLLLL Ashton's English VA doesn't suit him at all, I agree (he's supposed to be 21, btw). I'm pretty sure in every other version of this game he actually sounds a bit less masculine than Claude, but in this one they made him sound more deep and manly for reasons I can't fathom. It used to drive me nuts, but the fail of it seems to suit how fail just about everything else is in his life, hahah.

And I think the deal with Ashton is that he can actually be quite brave in battle when he has to be, but he also is unsure of himself in a way that leads him to rely on people like Claude for reassurance about some things. He's assertive about making people take responsibility about some things ('you broke it, you buy it' kind of mentally, I guess), but he can be a bit of a doormat when it comes to other interpersonal matters, like sharing headspace with a couple of demons or when his friends expect him to do something.

As for him and Precis, some people in fandom talk about how he's omg in loooove with Precis (and the anime and manga adaptations seems to turn it into an anvil and drop it on your head repeatedly), but that's really the only thing you see about it. There's a PA where Claude can spot them shopping together, and another one where Ashton can teach her a move to use in battle, but none of them seem to have terribly romantic overtones. (And considering how insanely high Claude and Rena's romance points can jump for Precis, I'm pretty sure everyone in the party must think she's adorable too, LOL.) The remakes didn't add any new scenes between them, either, so it didn't seem to be something the game developers felt the need to emphasize (unlike Ronyx/Ilia from SO1).

I see what you mean about the dialogue in SO1 being smoother. Actually, I think SO1 was given more love all around in its creation and localization than SO2. Sometimes I get the feeling they cut some corners with it. For example, most NPC characters in SO1 have portraits, and the music and sprites are a little more crisp (at least to me) since they actually took the time to remake it, as opposed to SO2, which is mostly a port except for some enhancements here and there. I've noticed more mistakes in SO2's English script too, and then there's the fact that they didn't bother to voice every single scene in English like they did with SO1.

Glad to know someone agrees the VA is kinda off. XD It might be just to accentuate the fail of it all, now that you mention it! Ha ha ha, I really can't see him as being 21, though, but I'm not sure what his age is in my mind either! ^^;

Well, at least he's definitely reliable. He has such a sad face whenever he's upset, it makes me want to solve all his problems for him, even if I'm not aiming for the Claude/Ashton ending (though I'm not sure what endings I'm aiming for, really.)

Hmmm, Okay, I can see that think about Precis pretty easily. She is just kinda klutzy and adorable. :3 I think I'd like to see all her endings with all the possible characters she can end with someday. That... will be a lot of run-throughs though. XD;

I wonder if maybe they just didn't have the budget to make the game as super-special-awesome as 1? :/ It really was a huge drop in quality concerning the dialog and voice overs (not the actors, but what you mentioned about the lack of voices for all PAs and stuff)

Yeah, I like it, certainly! ^_^ I'm still kinda exploring Lacuer for now, trying to find out more about the place and level before I'm thrust into the Armory Competition. ^^; Wish me luck~
