Killing Time or is it Wasting Time?

I was reading Kate’s blog and felt a need to write and since I’m still up waiting for the wife to finish having her city torched in Sim City, why not take a little survey…

What were you doing 10 years ago?

Ten years ago I was in Mexico City, Mexico deploying a large network infrastructure for the company I now work for. Just after 4th of July I will have traveled to Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Chihuahua, Mexico to do the same work then would come back to the states and head to Baytown, Texas for another company to get their network infrastructure working. That reminds me, I need to renew my passport.

What were you doing 5 years ago?

Just around this time in 2002 I was designing a global Windows network infrastructure based upon Active Directory, Windows Server 2000, and Windows XP. I was actively networking with my counterparts in Singapore, United Kingdom, Latin America, Canada, and the Middle East.

What were you doing 1 year ago?

Right around one year ago I just got back from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was preparing to have my fourth and final child (Rylin). I couldn’t stop catching pneumonia and was pretty miserable most of the summer.

What are 5 snacks you enjoy?

I very much love Snickers bars, Hershey’s Almond chocolate bars, chips, cashews, and beef jerkey.

What are 5 songs that you know the lyrics to by heart?

My memory actively remembers lyrics to songs and with that Queensryche’s Silent Lucidity, Guns N’ Roses Patience, Staind’s Paper Jesus, just about anything by Korn, and just about anything by Breaking Benjamin.

What are 5 things you would do if you were a millionaire?

Pay off my mortgage and my two cars (let’s count this as one item), give ten to twenty percent to charity, create a trust for my four children so they would have the funds necessary to attend the college of their choosing, enjoy life a little more stress-free, and redo the exterior and interior of my house (new siding on the outside, new drywall, paint, and a new kitchen on the inside).

What are 5 bad habits?

I tend to bite my nails when I’m stressed. I make excuses such as “I’ll do it later” instead of doing it right then and there. When I’m frustrated my language around the children can be a little bad. Instead of putting my laundry away I stack it up on a chair to be put away “later” (which never happens). Finally, my worst habit: procrastination.

What are 5 things you like doing?

I love going to the movies, taking long walks, traveling, learning, and playing with my children.

What are 5 things you would never wear again?

I hate wearing suits. Business casual is for the birds. Ties make no sense. Sweaters. Turtlenecks.

What are 5 favorite toys?

Laptop, mobile phone (BlackBerry), my car, my barbeque, and my car stereo (which has a high-speed link to my iPod. I’m still upset at Alpine for releasing an upgraded version of my head-unit, the DVA-9965. If they would communicate to their customers about up-and-coming technologies I would have dropped the $1600 on it instead. My wife would have killed me, but I would’ve been a happy dead person.).

Well, that was fun. Now I’m going to bed. Maybe Wednesday will be an “un-busy” day!
