Wind and a Scare

If it’s not snowing it’s windy. Looks like all the afternoon melt will quickly turn to ice. Wind and cold, nothing in Colorado happens by itself. The drive to work will take longer than this morning as people will view the addition of black-ice as further reason to drive even slower. Safety aside, would it kill the county to put a little more sand and magnesium chloride down before the morning rush-hour?

On a different note, we had a scare tonight. The children, Jessica, and I went to Tyler’s school for a parent-teacher conference. Due to the weather we were late. We spoke with the teacher for a few minutes and left. As I was helping Jessica load Kylea, Ayden, and Rylin in the van, I told Tyler to get into my car so we could run to the store together. When I finished helping Jessica, I walked over to my car and noticed that Tyler wasn’t in the car. I looked around, couldn’t find him, yelled out for him, no response. Jessica was preparing to leave but I stopped her before she backed out. She thought he might be hiding, he wasn’t. We both freaked out and looked everywhere for him. I went back into the school and had them make an announcement. As I walked back, Jessica saw him getting out of a parked car-that didn’t even look like mine. We hugged each other, breathed a sigh of relief, and I got Tyler into my car. After talking for a few minutes I broke down. I thought he was taken or lost or something. Tyler started crying then said [something like this] to me, “Daddy, its okay. I’m sorry. I’ll try not to let that happen again. I love you. Would you like a piece of Valentine’s candy?” He then patted my shoulder as I finally brought some composure back to myself.

Even after all this typing it’s still windy. I don’t even want to imagine the mornings commute.
