"It seems like everytime you come up, something happens to bring you back down"

So... the story.....

Chris and I live in a shared house. There are a total of 7 people there, me being the only female. Most of us are in our 20's, one in his late 30's, and the other is 55. This 55 year old, we'll call him retard, is a few beers short of a six pack. He is so slimy, there's really no good word to decribe this man. He's just plain annoying, and a disturbance to the house. We've all been having problems with retard for awhile now. In fact, our landlord has been going through the eviction process with him. However, retard has a criminal history, and knows the systems so well, that he jumps from place to place, and goes through this eviction process, and being able to live rent free in the mean time (appartently eviction takes a couple of months). So while retard has been living there rent free, he decides to make everyone's life absolutly miserable. One night, he yelled at me for putting glass in cardboard in the trash can, picked it out, and threw it so hard against the wall the glass almost broke. He got mad one time because I didn't ask his permission to use the stove, and he used one of my mother's dishes as an ash tray. Now, these are all other long stories that lead up to this one... so I'll just get to the point. At the end of Febuary our landlord presented retard with a three day inspection notice, meaning that three days from that notice, the landlord could go into the tenants room, and inspect for damages, or any illegal substances. Three days later, he goes to inspect the room, and retard wouldn't open up. He told him that he'd give him 10 minutes, and if he didn't open the door, he was going to go in with a key. This is when Chris and I come into the picture. The landlord asked us if we come down to be witnesses, but he knew that retard was probably going to call the police, and he also wanted protection (mainly from Chris), in case retard tried to do anything harmful. So Chris and I go down, we watch the landlord open the door. Retard calls the cops (only in the instance the cops never showed up because when retard called 911 he admitted to the operator that he had had a few beers, so I assume she just thought he was drunk, and imagining things or something). Anyways, Retard starts yelling at all of us.. I don't remember a lot of what was exactly said, but I do remember his deathly glare, and Chris protecting me by telling retard not look at me... etc etc. Maybe an hour later (retard likes to drag things out) one of the other tenants comes downstairs, escorts retard to his room, and thus ending the night. The next day, Thursday, I go to work, the day carried on.. everything was normal until about 5:00. I noticed it was from our landlord. Basically it said that that morning, the police came and served him with a protection order, and they watched him pack his things and escorted him off the premises. He told me that he is not to go anywhere near retard or HIS house, and that the hearing to resolve all this would be held March 15. He also told me that when Chris and I got home, the same thing would be waiting for us. So, we got kicked out for two weeks. We stay the night at his friend Justin's house, and the next day Chris, the landlord and I all meet at the courthouse to try and get this thing dropped. In this process we find out that retard got the protection orders by saying that we threatened to kill him.. he fears his life... and so on and so on. We actually got to talk to the same judge that signed the orders (he looked like an older version of retard). He told us he would not be able to terminate the order because the matter is too complicated and a hearing involving both parties needs to take place for the issue to be resolved. The only thing he did for us, was move the hearing date to Monday. So, we stay as Justin's all weekend, and Monday morning we head down to the King County Courthouse. Sure enough, retard showed up and we had the hearing. The only problem is, the judge wouldn't hear our case, because Chris and I had documents that the judge and retard havn't seen, and retard had 75 pages (he says) worth of notes, and observations, and documents, and reports, that we havn't seen, and nor has the judge. She said that after we all recieve copies from each other, than the hearing will take place as scheduled on March 15. We tried to explain to the judge that we had no place to go, and we were in jepordy of loosing our jobs, and if there was anyway we could have the hearing sooner, it would be greatly appreciated. She said that that decision would be up to retard. So she asks him, and of course he says no, it has to stay on the 15th, because that's the earliest convienence to him, and his job. There's just one small problem with this. He doesn't have a fucking job. So.. we are still not allowed to go home, where we PAY to live. We are running out of options fast, and running out of money. Right now we're staying with my friend Jen from work, and I think she's going to let us stay until the 15th, when we have our hearing. But then what? Let's say we win, and we can go back home. That would be preferred, but then we're still living with retard and our landlord has put us through so much shit we're not entirely sure we even want to stay there. Actually let me rephrase that. We do not want to stay there and finish our lease. We want to get our own place. However, we may not be able to get one with out a co-signer, and after talking to both of our parents, neither side is willing. Let's say we loose. We can't go back to the house. A police officer would have to come to watch us pack the rest of our stuff and we would have to move. But where to?? This is what we're trying to figure out... where? We've been seriously considering moving to Coeur d' Alene because there's a 5% chance that my parents would co-sign if we lived in town. But then Chris would loose his job (the only good one that he's found in the last year), and my parents don't want to help, if he doesn't have a job. The good thing is, I'd be able to transfer, make the same amount of money, in a town with a lower cost of living, and my parents would probably let me use my grandma's car again. Plus, we also have to consider that the last time they said they'd help, they bailed on us. I have a strong feeling that that's what would happen again. I think that they would say they were going to help, just to get me back in town. I really don't want Chris to pass this job up. He finally got something good going for him. More than likely we're going to stay in Seattle, and in the next two weeks hopefully we'll have time to do some apartment/duplex hunting, and hopefully someone out there will be able to rent to us and give us a chance. Until then.... well, I hope that the eviction goes through before the hearing, and retard is thrown out and we can go home. I miss my bed.

Updates to come...
