Today I FINALLY upgraded the shitty, 2-inch futon pad I've been sleeping on to a full-size mattress and boxspring. Granted, they're used--Uncle Tom had them taking up space in his basement--but they're fairly clean and about a thousand times better than the piece of crap I've been using. It was okay at first, but a futon is not meant for long-term use as a bed. Mom had a double-discount today at Kohl's, so me and my sisters went to pick stuff out. Most of what I got was for the bed: allergen cover, pillowtop mattress pad, 300-thread sheets that match the dark red of my walls...hell, YES it's comfortable.
Also among my prizes today (or presents, I guess; Mom felt justified spending a fair bit of money on me today since it's about to be my birthday) was a desk chair. Originally priced at $160, marked to $80, with Mom's discount, $48. Now I can lean against the back AND reach the keyboard at the same time. Amazing.
Wednesday, Amanda's taking me out to Chelo's for my birthday. Tonight we had a conversation on AIM that I thought would lead to a breakup...but no. May have planted the seeds, though. I feel that something isn't right with us, but she's just so damn nice I can't just break up like that. So we're still together, and having dinner soon. Another birthday dinner--family, this time--is on Friday. All of us (including Kellie, Chris and Jordan) are going to see Wicked, with Christmas-present tickets, and before we go we're all having a big home-cooked dinner at the house, as a birthday sorta thing. I was kinda hoping this year I'd have a proper party, but you know what? Dinner with the whole family is all I need. It happens so rarely, and I know we're going to go out an have a good time. I'm really looking forward to it.
Did I mention I've picked up a new admirer? Andie. Met her at Hot Topic when I went to pick up my check, and we ended up going to Hathor's Garden that night. Well, tried to, at least. They moved it from Remi's to The Gallery, and since we didn't know where that was (and received only vague or completely wrong directions from people we asked) we just walked around for a while then went home. Andie's pretty, but there isn't much to distinguish her from the fan club I seem to be developing here.
That's it for tonight, I think. Time for a shower and...at last...a restful sleep.
