New computer, mebe
I've been thinking about buying or building a new PC for a while. I did some poking around yesterday, and found some neat stuff. Any opinions on these choices should be added as a comment, and I'll take those into consideration.
RAIDMAX Black Aluminum Gaming Case with 420W Power Supply, Model "668WBP" -RETAIL
- - - Has LEDs (which will be disabled, likely), lots of internal room, and 6 fans built in to deal with pesky overheating issues.
Western Digital 200GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive, Model WD2000JD
- - - For stupid, fast storage.
PDP SYSTEMS DDR Memory 184-Pin 1GB PC-3200, Model PSD1G400 (x2)
- - - 2 Gigs of RAM.
ABIT "NF7-S" nForce2 Chipset Motherboard for AMD Socket A CPU
- - - Includes ridiculous onboard sound, Thermal tracking, overclocking - the whole 9 yards.
AMD Athlon XP 3200+ "Barton", 400MHz FSB, 512K Cache Processor
- - - Comes with the requisite heatsink and fan
CHAINTECH nVIDIA GeForce FX5700LE Video Card, 256MB DDR, 128-bit, DVI/TV-Out, AGP, Model "SA5700L"
- - - 256MB of nVIDIA glory. Don't really care that it's a generation behind the 6800 - it's also 1/3 the price
Sony Internal 16X DVD+/-RW / Double Layer Drive Black, Model DW-D22A-B2
- - - Will burn Dual-Layer discs. Joy!
Any thoughts on these selections? Anything I'm leaving out (I know there's no floppy drive - I don't want a floppy drive. I'll worry about what cables I need once I start assembling, as Best Buy has all that crap anyway....)?
