Hello drawmelot! I was just thinking to myself and talking with some friends, and we somehow got onto the subject of Tarot and I thought, "Well wouldn't it be cool if we could have a Merlin tarot deck ( Read more... )

I actually was working on something like this but hey, a community project actually sounds pretty awesome. :)

Haha, sorry to steal the idea right out from under you! Though an entire deck is really quite a bit for one person to do.

Ahh no, I really was only going to do like...Merlin and Arthur XD But then the deck wouldn't quite be complete yes? You should do a chart, like kink_bingo except with the tarot assignments and then everyone can pick one. :D And then post it all together like a fanart quilt or something.

this sounds fantastic. I love collaborative works, so if you do go ahead with this you have my full support. XD

just looking at the keywords for Strength on wikipedia, Hunith seems like a good match? I know I for one associate her with calmness and inner strength, although not so much 'justice' per se. you could put Gwen and Lancelot on the Lovers card as well as on their own single cards, if you run out of characters. and maybe Morgause as well. ♥

For the strength card, my first pick would be Gwen, actually! Hunith represents some of those qualities but it is a bit of a heavy card for her but she could fit very well as the Empress in Igraine's place (considering we haven't seen Igraine at all).

If Gwen gets her own card, Lancelot would likely have to get his as well, and I simply can't think of anywhere to slot him, though you'd think it'd be easy...

Also, I forgot to mention that I'm looking forward (very forward) to your work on this collab!

I just wanted to say that I think this is an awesome and amazing idea! I hope it works out. Sadly I can't draw, but I'd love to see Merlin Tarot Cards someday :)
Wish you luck!

I love this idea. I'd love to contribute if this goes ahead!

Oddly, I'm seeing Mordred as the fool- spontaneity, expect the unexpected, new paths and such. Tho, the Tower is a good fit too. Strength definitely Gwen. The Devil could be Nimueh? Lust, temptation, obsession. The Hanged Man could be Gwen's father. Judgement could be the chalice that was filled with rainwater that saved Arthur's life? The name escapes me, but it'd be a pretty image. The Moon- that globe of light that saved Arthur from the spider things? The Lovers should be a canon pairing IMO. Gwen and Arthur/Lancelot is ideal. The decision that will change everything? Yeah.

You might have to double up on characters to fill all the gaps, too. The Star could be Merlin upon arrival at Camelot.

I am obviously thinking about this way too hard. =D

Actually, the Moon would be great for Lancelot, since I just realised he doesn't have an individual card yet.

This is an awesome idea, honestly, you had me at Merlin Tarot. I'd love to help, if my skills are up to it (I haven't actually finished any pictures in about a year or so... *fail ( ... )

I'd hate to double up on any characters except the main ones (arthur and merlin) Gwen and Lancelot get 1 and 1/2 card, so that doesn't count haha. Otherwise, your suggestions have been added to the list! I'm really glad you like the idea ^^;

For the Wheel of Fortune, a few comments lower semiramis proposed Camelot itself; I like both your versions. Could the crown be mounted in front of Camelot, or simply be seen from above so that it's at it's roundest with, a it's centre, a view of the castle and some of its village? It'd be shiny and intricate while visually simple enough in theme and composition that the meaning should be clear at first glance.
