Week 38.5-39: Packed weekends
(wake me up?) When September ends: 2N mini-reunion
Representatives from the second half of 2N'05 descended on Toa Payoh one Saturday morning for the first meetup in probably a decade. Was amusing to note that out of the 6 that came 2 were history teachers. Similar situation to 36th Titans, in that the meetup was instigated by a long-time overseas person (bunnified) coming back to Singapore for a short while.
MAF mini-reunion:
Always nice to go back to MAF with the usual suspects and see who the serendipity roulette allows me to cross paths with. This time: Lijie, Daoyuan, Yijun Ced Kiahwa, Mrs Loh.
Miss Ang's three goals were all met:
-Eat Curry Wok - Check
-Take Central Plaza photo - Check (with bonus hall photo)
-Eat mooncakes -OMNOMNOM

Funny exchange of the week
Colleague (updating me because I didn't go for training): You're in the mens' team for Saturday's dragonboat race.
Me: Ok cool, which side am I on?
C: Right, if not wrong. [well punned]
[afternote]: I was on the left, so she was not right.
The BIG race day on Saturday:
Weather was nice (read: not raining) in the morning during our races. Managed to maintain my tunnel vision during the race, which I'm proud of. Missed a few areas (collarbone, upper shoulder) when applying sunscreen, which I'm not proud of. But we managed to achieve a very unexpected result of 2nd for men's 200m (by 0.3seconds) and 1st in open 100m sprint (by 0.08seconds). So we had to stay for prize presentation D:
And the emcees dragged the lucky draw announcements, ensuring that we would all leave only when the cats and dogs started falling. Good thing I had my umbrella.

Gospel Academy part 4 - Tripartite Man
1 liner summary: I am a spirit, I have a soul, I live within a body.
1 para summary: When we are born again, the spirit is immediately, permanently transformed into a new spirit (justification), but the soul still has its old habits ingrained from a lifetime steeped in a sinful environment. The gradual cleansing of the soul is a conscious, lifelong process (sanctification), and this process is what we term spiritual growth. And how is this growth achieved? By feeding on the word of God. As we behold Jesus, so we are transformed into his likeness.
Other interesting points:
-Self-deprecation is false humility. Feeling like a worm or maggot is false humility. You are one spirit with God!
-The very fact that you are in struggle with sin, are repulsed by your sinful nature, is a sign that you have been changed. The old self would not be repulsed in such a way by sin.
-Your identity (as a child of God) is determined by your (new) birth, not by your actions.
-What you focus on, you strengthen. The more sin-conscious you are, the more you will sin.
-One of the Devil's greatest tricks is to make you work for something (salvation) you already have.
