Draco was thrumming his fingers on the table, a clear sign of his boredom. Hemrione thought he was being rude; they were in a staff meeting! Granted, someone called a staff meeting every week it seemed, but they should still be respectful of the person speaking.
She reached over with her left hand and took hold of his right, threading her fingers through his and bringing both hands under the table. He cast her a sideways glance and she made it evident that she was paying full attention to what Minerva was saying.
He sighed, slouched a little lower in his seat, and started thrumming his left hand on his leg.
Hermione reached her right hand over and took his right hand from her left, then grabbed his left hand with her left. The result was awkward, both arms crossed uncomfortably. It also pulled them closer together, so that their shoulders were touching. She was grateful that the table was nearly flush against their chests, so nobody was the wiser about what was going on.
She saw Draco smirk and start tapping his foot.
So he wanted to make a game of it? Well, so long as they weren’t disruptive …
Hermione reached her foot over and clamped it down hard on his. He nearly let out a cry of surprise but stopped himself in time, his mouth gaping a little. It was her turn to smirk.
Draco sat still for a few moments, no doubt considering his next move. He started bouncing his knee. Hermione uncrossed her legs and then recrossed them, slinging her right leg over both of his.
Suddenly it was a little too warm in the staff room, and Hermione glanced at Draco. He was watching her with fire in his eyes, his desires plain for her to see. Hermione gave him her best, “not now!” look and he winked, then indicated the door with his eyes.
“No,” she mouthed, and then leaned over him to ask Hannah what page of the agenda they were on.
Draco took that moment to softly kiss her cheek. It startled Hermione, and she glanced furtively at Minerva, hoping it hadn’t been spotted. The Headmistress was still going on about the upcoming trip to Hogsmeade.
Hermione chose to ignore Draco while Hannah got her caught up, which turned out to be a mistake. While she was leaned over, Draco moved on from her cheek, trailing soft, tantalizing kisses down her neck.
“Thank you,” Hermione mouthed to Hannah, and then returned to her staring ahead. Draco’s hand then started moving in soft circles on her leg, starting at her knee and slowly, painfully moving higher. Hermione could feel her cheeks burning but she couldn’t disentangle herself from Draco without making a scene.
“Stop,” she whispered.
“Hmm?” he said quietly, completely ignoring her.
“I said-”
“Professors Malfoy.”
Hermione froze and looked at the Headmistress; Draco looked up as well, but continued his ministrations which were nearly driving Hermione out of her mind.
“Was there something you wished to add?” Minerva asked in a clipped tone, her lips pursed.
“N-no, I’m sorry,” said Hermione.
Minerva glanced at her and then at Draco, giving each a chilly glare, before continuing.
Hermione squeezed Draco’s hand so hard that he finally stopped. When she didn’t let up and dug her nails into his palm, he nodded, indicating he would behave for the rest of the meeting.
