Here's everything you need to know for Round 7 of the Dramione Awards!
Timeline | Rules | Categories | Nomination Post

Timeline:

Nominations: September 1st - September 7th September 14th
Contacting Authors: September 8th - September 14th September 15th - September 21st
Seconding: September 15th - September 30th
Voting: October 1st September 22nd - October 7th
Winners Announced: October 9th

Rules & Procedures:
Eligibility Requirements:

- This is a Draco/Hermione award community. Therefore, all nominated stories must contain Draco/Hermione as the main relationship. Threesome fics are NOT eligible, even if Draco and Hermione are a part of that threesome.

- For this round, we are focusing on fiction of 1000 words or less. Stories of 1001 words or greater will not be accepted for nomination.

---> For the purposes of the awards, we are breaking the fics down into the following length categories, defined as: Drabble (100 words exactly), Flash Fiction (101-500 words), and Ficlet (501-1000 words).

---> The length of a fic should be determined by the number of words in the body of the fic itself, NOT including the header information (title, rating, summary, author's note, etc.). If the fic is posted in a LiveJournal community, the word count is usually listed in the story's header, but when in doubt, please copy and paste the text of the story into a word processing program (like Microsoft Word) to confirm the exact word count. This is especially necessary if the fic you are nominating is posted on a fanfic site, as these sites tend to list inaccurate word counts.

(For info on how to determine word count using Microsoft Word 2003 or earlier, go HERE. For Microsoft Word 2007, go HERE.)

- There is no restriction regarding when the nominated fiction was written (i.e., it doesn't have to have been written in 2009 or any other specific time period). Anything goes as long as it's Draco/Hermione and meets the length requirements!

- We doubt we will encounter this situation very often, but just in case: stories that won a Dramione Award in the past ARE still eligible, as long as they fit the rest of the nomination criteria. Also, it's completely okay if the fic you want to nominate has already won awards in other places, such as a drabble-writing community or "last drabble writer standing" contest.

- See THIS POST for places you can find Dramione drabbles/flash fiction/ficlets.

Nomination Procedure:

- To nominate fics, please go to the Nomination Post, which also includes the necessary information to include in your nomination.

- As with the last round, everyone will submit a list of the stories they think deserve recognition. You may nominate only ONE story for each category (for a total of 18 nominations). You do NOT have to submit a nomination for every category to participate.

- During the nomination phase, we will keep a running list of nominees. Before nominating fics, you should check this list to make sure you are not nominating a fic that has already been nominated for that particular category. After the nomination phase, we will have a seconding phase to narrow down the list of preliminary nominees (more info on this later). There will be NO seconding phase for this round of awards.

- As always, you may NOT nominate your own stories!

- In drabble contest communities, the fic you wish to nominate may be posted in a large list with other fics. If that is the case, provide the link for that page, as well as its number in the list so we will know where to find it. In addition, some fanfic archives such as Hawthorn & Vine encourage writers to post their individual drabbles as "chapters" in part of a larger "fic", rather than making each individual drabble a separate fic. In those cases, each of those drabbles/chapters is eligible for nomination as well. Just copy and past the text into a word processing program to double-check the word count before nominating, and be sure to provide a link directly to the drabble/chapter you wish to nominate.

- We will attempt to contact all nominated authors after nominations close. If we do not hear back from an author by Midnight EST on September 14th September 21st, their nominated story/stories will not proceed to the voting phase. If an author notices that their fic(s) have been nominated, they also have the option of leaving a comment or sending an email to dramioneawards@gmail.com to accept/decline their nomination while the nomination phase is still going on.

Note: An author can only have ONE story nominated per category at the end of the seconding phase. If they have more than one nominee in a category, we will ask them to choose one to proceed to the voting phase in that category.

Explanation of categories:
- The "Best Romantic", "Funniest", and "Best Heart-wrenching" categories are pretty self-explanatory.
- For the "Sexiest" categories, remember that a fic doesn't have to be explicit to be sexy (i.e. fics don't have to contain smut to qualify for this category!).
- For the "Most Creative" categories, nominate fics that grab your attention, and/or package an interesting story into a small amount of words; they could be written from a unique POV, successfully utilize a new writing style, pull off a surprising plot twist, etc..
- For "Best Dialogue", nominate fics that demonstrate a good use of dialogue, whether the fic consists entirely of conversation, or has a few especially memorable one-liners.

Please go to the Nomination Post to submit your nominations. If you have questions or concerns, either comment to this post or email the mods at dramioneawards@gmail.com.
