Although it had taken them a while to arrive, the long wait was worth it. The two of them removed their shoes, allowing their feet to sink into the golden sand, the tiny clusters of grains seeping in between their toes. The ticklish sensation that was delivered straight through them was pleasing to the point they walked further and further, right in front of the ocean’s shore.

Hermione inhaled deeply as her husband watch her take in the familiar salty, soothing air, allowing her bushy mane of hair to sway in the wind, as if fast enough to fly. The ends of her antique white dress flew behind her, her ankles completely exposed to the calming atmosphere.

“Don’t you remember the first time I’ve taken you here, Hermione?” Draco asked her, placing one of his hands, the one with their wedding ring, on her shoulder.

“It seems distant,” she replied, raising one of her palms to rest on top of his. “But I remember.”

They stood there, completely silent, watching the rhythm of the waves. Seagulls in the distance flew across the serene surface of the ocean, looking down at the two of them. The scent of the ambience and Draco’s cologne collided together quite well, as breathing it in satisfied her greatly.

Once the whispers of the waves began to calm itself down, Hermione crossed her arms and began to think, like she always had been during their school years. Draco recognized this look immediately and without waiting, turned to look at her directly in her beautiful chocolate brown eyes.

“What’s on your mind?” he questioned her, locking glances.

Hermione sighed a bit, the edges of her mouth curling slightly.

“I don’t know, I just find it funny,” she replied, laughing a little at her unexplainable curiosity. “It’s just...the waves...they never stop, do they?”

“...No, I don’t think so,” Draco told her although he was not sure about the reasons for her asking. “They’ve been like that forever. Always.”

“Sorry,” Hermione slipped out. “It was just a quick wonder.”

Draco pulled her closer to him and she could feel the warmth from his body being sent straight to her own. Comfort captured her in every possible way as she brushed he brushed his hand from her hair to her neck, reading her skin until there were no stories left.

“Just let your questions at rest, Hermione,” Draco insisted, watching her eyelids flutter in a trance. “You have a whole lifetime ahead of you to wonder.”

Hermione brought her right hand to her face, eyeing the golden wedding ring deeply. The small sunset’s gleam allowed it to glisten, her brown eyes now possessing a delicate shade of sienna. She stared at the lines embedded all over her palm, the very same lines that stayed there even before she even dreamt about the moments she was living.

Out of nowhere, she asked yet another question.

“We’ll stay like the waves, won’t we?”

Draco snapped out of his dreamy gaze to look at her once more, his slate gray eyes feeling the serenity in them as she remained focused. He let out a faint laugh before proceeding to answering.

“What do you mean?”

“Like you’ve said. The waves never stop, they’ll be like that always and forever.”

He removed his hands from her shoulders and stood directly in front of her, the sunlight that was dancing on her face now covered with his light shadows. The platinum blonde strands of hair that loomed over his eyes danced back and forth, Hermione watching every movement attentively.

“I’ll leave that for you to answer.”

They shared a kiss and the both of them relived its sweet taste, their fingers entwining, as the sea daffodils strewn all over the rugged shore rocked back and forth in the soundless wind.
