Summary: Future was had become a very important word in her life

On June 5, 2003, "future" became a word that slowly evaporated from Layla Rourke's dictionary.

From the days when her mother overused it in a cheerful manner to assure the both of them, to the ones where they both avoided it like the plague, hoping that maybe not using would somehow keep it intangible and always there for her to grasp, like hope, Layla had just…stopped overanalyzing it. To be honest she stopped wanting to.

On February 3 2005,  "future" became the only thing she could think about.

The husband she'd meet and fall in love with and marry, the kids she could have, the life she could actually lead. Maybe she'd go to school and become a teacher. Maybe she'd be so happy with having everything she never thought she could that she'd be a stay at home mom. It didn't matter to her as long as she got to do it.

Her mother encouraged these thoughts, saying that they would keep her alive and keep on going. Because after all God wouldn't have sent them a clear sign if they weren't meant to keep believing.

It was the day that Pastor Roy had opened up his church.

On January 18, 2006, Layla didn't know what to think.

Her mother was practically mute now. That is when she saw her. Leanna, looked like she felt like she had failed Layla when she needed her the most and didn't see that's not what her daughter felt at all. Layla was strangely at peace with how things worked out. She figured that she wasn't meant to be saved and that maybe she had another purpose. "God works in mysterious ways." She told Dean and even if he looked like he didn't believe it for a second, she did. She had to for future- wherever it might lie.

It was also the day that she realized "future" was just another completely relative word.
