hello lj. so remember how i was talkin about escaping? well...i did. after work on saturday i grabbed jen dear and we drove to ny.
we spent saturday night seeing "hair" at wagner college and partying with the theatre majors. so much fun :)
then sunday we woke up at 9:30 to catch the 10am ferry to nyc (cuz we were on staten island) after we (me, kevin and jen) got to times square we went over to the theatre where hairspray is playing and we ended up winning 4 tickets from the lottery. so we grabbed lunch and say hairspray (FRONT ROW!) i've already seen it but not from the front row! haha...its so cool cuz the performers interact with you and you're right there! and diana digarmo (finalist from american idol) was penny. she was amazing...it was so good. it was so funny, cuz im so used to giving a standing ovation and i went to go stand up and i was like in their face for their curtain call. haha. so cute. the guy who played edna said "hey doll" to me when he was bowing. hehe.
so after hairspray we walked around the city some more. then me and jen decided to just see another show and drive back to MA really late. so we put in for the rent lottery....AND WON! it was awesome, we were so fricken lucky. like hairspray, i have already seen it before but not front row! ive grown a new love for lottery tickets. we saw 2 broadway shows, front row for $45. how amazing is that?
so anyways, rent. matt caplan is so good. he is the best mark ever! (not better than anthony rapp of course, but he was really good). the roger was really angry....but very into it. it was an interesting character choice. but being front row we could see the tears dripping down his face. so intense. mimi sucked. it was the understudy..and she wasn't that good. after light my candle i turned to jen and was like "you're better than her" haha. joann was sooooo good. collins was great too. was amazing during "ill cover you" reprise. oooh! and one of the guys from the movie Camp was in the ensemble! he smiled at me and jen cuz we were mouthing seasons of love when everyone else was just clapping and frenchie smiled at us during her solo. like i said, there's nothing like being in the front row for a show.
it was definately what i needed. unfortunately it took a lot of effort to get back on the ferry and get in my car and drive home. i did not want to leave. not so much the fact of school, work and the family situation...more like...it's where i belong. i didn't want to leave the place where i should be...its where i belong.
anyways, im gonna go to bed and try to get back into the swing of things. until next time lj...
