A lot of people on my flist are mourning the death of Heath Ledger. I must confess that I'm not sad. I mean, he's been in movies that I've enjoyed. The loss of a young, talented person, who was no doubt loved is sobering. I'm certainly not happy he's dead. But I didn't know him personally. If not for the media-hype circa Brokeback Mountain, I wouldn't have known anything about his life. It would be plain lying to suggest I'm feeling anything like mournfulness.
I was surprised when I saw the headline on my web news page. And morbidly curious. As sinnick pointed out, Heath Ledger didn't have much of a bad boy reputation. If any prominent celebrity was going to turn up dead, I would have expected someone like Britney Spears or Amy Winehouse. What happened?
I hope he didn't end is own life, either purposely or through reckless disregard. Because I know he has a very little girl. That makes me sad.
