Disco Lunchtime

Sometimes I suspect I have a mild ADD. One thing I find difficult is to sit quietly and eat a meal. I need conversation, TV, a book or some other distraction to stave off the squirrelies.

When Drama Prince started eating solid foods, I found myself getting antsy. Talking to him while he ate was fun, but he wasn't (and still isn't) able to reciprocate enough for it to qualify as conversation. I didn't want the TV on during meals and a books were out of the question, since I needed my hands free to do the feeding. Some days I could suck up and endure, but when I felt especially, I'd call up one of my playlists and dance in front of the highchair.

Turns out this might not have been the wisest move. Because now Drama Prince pretty much refuses to take food from me, unless I'm getting funky. Have you ever tried getting your groove on, while steering a spoonful of soup into a baby's mouth? Not easy.

On the upside, DP seems to have a real feel for the beat. Today he wasn't just mimicking my moves, I swear he was refining them. I thought it would take more than ten months before I got to the stage where my kid is clearly cooler than I am.
