Baby Bookworm
I like Drama Prince so much! Ups and downs of parenting aside, I just really adore the little baby person he is. I like that (for the moment) he's sociable. I like listening to him babble away in his crib for an hour when he wakes up. I like the way he laughs when he's happy.
Perhaps the thing I enjoy most about him, is his clear love of reading. Or rather, being read to. Every night before bed, Drama King and/or I read him some stories. We lie on the spare bed together and there are peels of giggles from the moment he see the front cover. He especially likes books I read him in French or stories that involve funny voices.
After one particularly long day, DP was falling asleep in his high chair. Thinking he was too tired, DK and I decided to skip stories and put the baby right to bed. No deal. He immediately started screaming and wouldn't stop until we relented and read Don't Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus. After that he went right to sleep.
Once we were visiting friends for the evening and put DP to bed in there spare room. We forgot to bring a book, so DK read to him from a computer manual instead. Worked like a charm.
Now when people ask about gifts for DP I tell them "book, books and more books. Or manuals."
