The Overachievers

I just finished reading this book , and it really felt that I was reading about my senior year. It is all about college admissions and kids over-stressng themselves with school work and activities. I just kept thinking back to January of my senior year when I was breaking down to my mom every night about all the stuff I had to do and about how I would never finish. (This is when I was in tech week for a professional production of "Suessical", had mock-trial practice daily, even when I was missing school for practice, had auditions for my school musical, and had mid-terms all in a two week span.) The kids in the book were doing even more than me, though, and staying up until 2 AM doing home work, something I still cannot get myself to do. It made me sad for kids today, though, and also really happy that I'm not in high school anymore. It was a really interesting book though. Did you know that 40% of elementary schools don't have recess anymore? I think that's kind of crap. The book is by the woman who wrote "Pledged," which I found partly amusing and party annoying. I liked this one better.

Anyway, now I'm on to reading "The Time Traveler's Wife," which Stephanie said is really good. Even though I really want to be at school right now, it is nice that I can just sit and read for hours at a time just because I feel like it. Tomorrow, my mom is making me get up at 7 to go work out with her at my dad's offices' gym. That should be fun.
