it's sunny with a high of 75...more like 98
so, this is actually about yesterday, and today. depends on how concentrated i can make them
so monday: FIRST DAY OF REAL BAND PRACTICE!!!!!!!! mr dunn pushed us really hard, but it was kinda good bc i am building up those muscles(again!) that you need to hold the instrument. we started the drill, and some of it was very hard. i had to do a jazz run and i still cant really make it. one time we went over from the beginning, joey forgot the jazz run so i tripped over him and fell straight on my back. luckily i didnt hurt my instrument!!! and i got it pretty good. then we went to sectionals for like an hour and we went over music
then we went to lunch and the band girls all sat together and it was cool. then we went and visited amy's mom in the front office.
then it was time for sectionals. the clarinets have just about memorized the first piece! then for an hour we practiced w/ the woodwinds and that was cool. then for about 20 minutes we watched carolina crowns and listened to how they judge drum corps. it was pretty interesting.
then we went back out to the field. we were supposed to play AND march, but i didnt play everything, bc i was concentrating on not running into everyone. and some of it was hard. but we did pretty good.
then i talked to nick for like an hour. i told him what happened at practice, and he got worried bc he would have to make up like the whole first # w/ the music, but i told him that i had confidence in him, so hopefully that helped. then we talked about life, as usual.
TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we got to practice, and we started out w/ usual prayer and devotions. then mr dunn said he pushed us yesterday bc if we survived that, we would survive the rest of the year. but andrea didnt show. i heard that she was thinking about quitting! which would be very bad.
then we started drill. AND I HAD ANOTHER JAZZ RUN!!! which is actually worse than the other one. we tried for like 20 minutes, going over and over it, but i still couldnt make it. one time i ran into kevin(who is supposed to be in front of me in that set) and i fell over him. THE SECOND TIME IN 2 DAYS!!! at break, i made up my mind that i was going to practice until i did make it, even if i had to come to school an hour early and stay an hour late. I WAS GOING TO MAKE IT!!!
then after break mr dunn moved the set, and i felt guilty bc i was probably the reason why he switched it. i felt so bad bc just bc of me, everyone's spots changed. but then i got it, and i felt really good about it. then we went into woodwind sectionals in the choir room and it was pretty good.
then i went out to lunch w/ jen, hailey, lauren, and K-Swa. we went to taco bell and it was really good. then after lunch we went to clarinet sectionals. at first we went to the choir room, but amy didnt like rachel a. playing the piano, so we went outside. and the firsts and 2nds split up for a while, so i was "section leader" over K-Swa and tommy. tommy wasnt there for the first part of practice for drill, but i will talk about that later.) but then amy got lonely so we all gathered up together, then traveled into the choir room again. rachel was our "temporary director. tommy and brian wouldnt stand up until the last like 2 minutes, so that was annoying! specially since mr dunn asked us to stand in attention position while practicing! then we went to woodwind sectionals. but before it started, daniel and joe were playing the piano, and me and amy loved daniel and hated joe. then daniel played like a concerto and it was AMAZING!!! me and amy envisioned him as a professional piano player. then joe played like chop-sticks so we laughed at him. then mrs a came and we practiced, and we got to SIT DOWN!!! which was very enjoyed, mrs a, so i thank you.
then we watched the 2004 show of phantom regiment and that was AWESOME!!!
then we went back out to the field. but now rachel was gone and hailey didnt really remember her spots so we all got messed up. and tommy didnt know the drill so he was like wandering around trying to figure out where his spots were. i then vowed that i would NEVER miss a rehearsal when we were learning drill bc then i would mess up like tom did and nick will do. so the end practice was really good, but it felt like it ended really early.
oh, we also got our uniforms fitted. i finally have, not 2 or 3, but 1 number. it is 28. last year i had pants 65 and hat 62, but then like a week before states, someone switched my hat, so i ended up with a hat that was too big, which was very annoying!!! so i am happy.
