[Hey community. Bet you missed your sneak peeks into the life of Scotty. (Okay, probably not. Scotty didn't miss it either.) He's in the gym this time, dressed down in a plain black tshirt and shorts, and he's currently doing some weight training. Those who saw both the accident in the engine room and the aftermath might be surprised to see that ( Read more... )

It seems that regeneration technology must be a little different on your world!

I'd explain how it works, but honestly I've not got much idea when it comes t'medical tech.

Well, you see, here regeneration technology involves chambers-- so I was surprised to see you talking to the community while healing! Very strong pain medications are really only used temporarily, while a person is being transported to a hospital, for instance.

Ours're tiny wee handheld devices. But like I said, I've no idea how it works. Small cuts don't hurt, typically, after they've been patched up, but... Well. Something like what happened t'me...

What exactly did happen, Mr. Scott? I've been very busy keeping Mr. Doctor out of trouble the last few days, so I haven't had the time to get any details...

Ah. [There's not really any delicate way to put this, is there?] Had a piece o' shrapnel go through my arm.

[ don't worry scotty, she is a bonafide paramilitary brat who does not flinch at injuries ] Oh dear! What caused it? Was there a problem with the engine? Although I suppose you would have said something about the ship malfunctioning if that were the case...

[He'd been telling everyone it was an explosion, while he was medicated. Because hell, it felt like one.]

Burst pipe. Combination of a weak point in the seam an' too much internal pressure. I just happened t'be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Oh, yes, something like that has definitely happened here before! Except I ducked, so everything was all right. It's very sneaky, how things can burst without warning!

Aye, well, it could've been avoided if anyone'd bothered t'check those seams. If I find out who's been slackin' off...

...then make them run fifty laps of the engineering bay!

I was thinkin' something more along the lines of assignin' them t'clean out the plasma conduits for a month. Most of us already run laps, y'know, t'stay in shape.

Yes, I suppose that's true! Will you make them use a toothbrush to do it? That's what Papa always threatens, even for tasks where a toothbrush would be no help at all!

I like the way you think.
