Well, after a rather tumultuous summer, the last major hurdle to overcome has finally been leaped and I have moved into my new apartment thanks to the last minute help of some very supportive family and friends (seriously, I cannot thank you guys enough).  I am exhausted, dirt poor and wondering how I’m going to survive September, surrounded by boxes and mess, but I am in and I am delighted with the space.

I’m loving everything about it so far.  I love my superintendent.  I figured correct in that when it comes to moving people in she’s obviously more stressed out and curt with people, but in person she is absolutely delightful and has gone out of her way to ask how I’m settling in, which is more than I can say for my last supers who were nice but very businesslike.  I love my big wooden door with the enormous door handle on it.  I love the black and white tiled floor in my bathroom and the shower curtain I just bought.  I love the old school wooden cupboards in my kitchen, which remind me of my cottage cupboards and make me feel at home.  I love my big old stove, which will finally fit my cookie sheets and heats up incredibly fast (oh old school stoves, you have at least one thing new ovens don’t).  I love that there are little doors to my kitchen.  I love that I have a pantry, although I’ll have to find a way to organize it.  I love my balcony, which is freaking huge!  Way too huge for one person, so I will have to find something to do with the space (garden?).  I like the size of the main room, I even like that all of the outlets are sideways.

I had my first hot breakfast this morning (it feels so good to be eating real food again!) and I enjoyed having the sun stream in through the windows while I cook.  What I really like though is that because everything is centralized in one location (except the kitchen and bathroom) I can play my music and hear it through the entire apartment.

I have to admit, unpacking sucks and is harder for me than packing.  There’s less/different storage type space and trying to figure out where to put it all is tough.  Still…new place!  Hopefully I can concentrate now on life type stuff like theatre and video projects and games like I always like to do.
