Always Choose Retry

There is this lovely science fiction turn based strategy computer game called Alpha Centauri. The game play itself is pretty good, for something that came out in the 90s. But what makes it great is all the voice overs. Each faction has a few and all the techs have their own. They are usually referred to as quotes, since so many fans of the game quote them, and some of them are historical quotes, but many of them were written just for this game. Anyways! I have many favorite quotes from that game, but from one in particular I took a motto, "always choose retry", which I leave as my Personal Message on Windows Live Messenger.

"Abort, retry, fail?" was the phrase some wormdog scrolled next to the door of the Edit Universe project room. And when the new data spinners started working, fabricating their worlds on the huge organic comp systems, we'd remind them, if you see this message, always choose retry. - Bad'l Ron, Wakener, Morgan Polysoft

I love it! Just the idea of the first part is so funny. XD "Abort, retry, fail?" being a reference to DOS, an old operating system for computers. That message would show up if you entered a command that was not valid or for some reason failed. So to think that hundreds of years in the future, when they have super advanced computers, in which they are using to simulate the whole universe, as suggested by "the Edit Universe project room", if that message did pop up, if you were to select abort of fail, you'd be aborting the universe! XD Which is why you "always choose retry." Yeah, it's rather geeky. =p

But I took it from there and ran with it, turning it into a motto for life. A positive way of saying "never give up" is "always choose retry".
