....

I've been away for quite some time again. All apologies, mainly to myself. While there may still be some people watching, this (being a journal) is mostly a means of tracking the stupid little things that catch my attention in my life. I've been lax in recording such things.

So, then. Let's see... events since my last posting. Was that before the dog died, perhaps? Poor guy just keeled over one day... we suspect heartworms, now. There were no outside indicators of the cause of death; it looks like he went to sleep and just didn't wake up.

Since Sam's passing, we've added a few new family members. My daughter has mice; Missy and Mary Jane. They've been around long enough that they're starting to get used to the idea of being kept. My son has gerbils, named Leia and Padme. They're not used to us yet by any means, but they live longer than the mice so that's okay. And one family cat, Maya. She's fairly good, though she's starting to show an unhealthy obsession with getting into my daughter's room at night. A cat pawing at your door for a full hour can't be condusive to sleep, so we're having to lock her up at night for now.

I'm still with GE/Penpower, still working midnights (see the time of my entry). Not much has changed, really. Including the fact that we're now two years behind on having our contracts signed and seem to be in the unenviable position of working a job that doesn't technically exist until those papers are signed.

My house is a mess. While I like the hardwood/laminate floor, we have an overabundance of dust bunnies. It takes them no time at all to appear; I sweep the whole house, and within a day it's layered again. This is causing some unhealthy issues with the wife's desktop PC. We're cleaning it up intermittently but, frankly, we never have company anymore. As such, once a week seems good enough at this point.

Still no tabletop RPing going on, but we haven't really tried. We've kind of fell out of the circle and haven't tried to find our way back in. I likely will again in the future, as I miss the hobby... but we either need more married couple/parent roleplayer friends, or a couple more years for the kids to be better at amusing themselves while company's over.

WoW goes well enough, I suppose. I've pretty much severed ties with the friends I once had in-game. I am disdainful of the cliques that remind me forcibly of high school, and have pretty well pissed them off I think. And as everyone's in the cliques.... I found a few like-minded people who have developed a non-guild for roleplayers, but as their strength is focused on another server entirely I've just been following my own lore for now. Things come and go in cycles... I'll find people worth knowing again.

As the expansion goes... very nice. Love both new starting areas. Avoiding the Outlands til everyone and their grandmother is done bogging that end of the server down. That, and since I've quit hanging out with the 'cool kids' who have to have all the best kewl lewt and all of their munchkin tendencies fulfilled level- and build-wise, I've just not felt the drive to be in the new endgame content the minute it's available. I'll take it slow and enjoy the little things, thanks.

The kids are well, as is the wife. The spouse and I are trying an odd new diet, we're looking at putting our kids in a karate class... today, actually..., and the kids are doing well enough at school. A bit of an attention problem with my daughter, but we're hoping the discipline training with the self-defense class might help with that a bit.

So, that's it. The update. More random thoughts as they come.
