Hey you! Thanks to a comment of yours on Facebook, I got to hear 'Odessey and Oracle' for the first time ever tonight. (I'd heard 'Time of the Season' a million times, of course, but never the rest of the album.) WOW! Back in the day, the LP was a $1 'bargain bin' standard. Maybe that's why I didn't think it would be any good. Totally failed assumption. 'Care Of Cell 44' has to be one of the catchiest tunes I've ever heard. Amazing!
Listening through it again this gray afternoon and it's always as shimmering and layered as I first remember it (speaking as though I didn't start paying attention to The Zombies in 2006 :P)
there's loads of daily quotables in this album for me. I love the phrasing, the imagery some of the lyrics evoke... "A Rose For Emily" will take you places if you let it. "This Will Be Our Year" helped provide a soundtrack for a very upward-looking couple years, even when faced with troubles.
After watching the Zombies' 2008 reunion concert on YouTube, I may just have to go see them in Redding next Monday. ^^ I don't know how I can manage it, either financially or logistically (I'd have to rent a car, for one thing), but considering how events are converging they way they are, I almost feel like this is something that was meant to be. I don't know, though. It would mean having to drive to Redding and back in one night (yikes, very dangerous road, 299), and what do I do about my dogs on such short notice, but this is literally a once in a lifetime thing, and I really feel a compelling desire to go.
Duckeh dude! I grin like an evil scientists knowing that you had to wade through a LOT of my posts on your Friends' Page since I have been posting fairly regularly for the past several years. Bwaa haa haa!
This isn't a bad thing, though. Reading material! I've been out of touch with one half of the story (Carol's a regular Facebook poster, so I know some things!) - - but I'm pleased to be "wading" through your older posts.
Crikey, was a surprise to see you active on here again. I only check in here occasionally now, so many folk have moved on. Anyway, is good to hear from you again.

I can't decide whether LiveJournal is more akin to vinyl or cassette; depends how many more come back, I guess.
