Oscar Talk (still)!!!
I'm quickly working my way through the oscar movies.
Just watched another today - Walk the Line.
Good movie. Good, strong performances by both Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon, but not quite oscar-worthy. I haven't seen Pride and Prejudice, although my mom has and claims Keira Knightley was wonderful in the lead, and I know for a fact that Felicity Huffman gave a far more versatile and impressive performance in Trans-America, so why did Reese win?
Who knows? Maybe the academy decided it had to justify the salary of the highest paid actress EVER in some way.
Or something.
Or maybe it was the safest choice - to go with a good, non-controversial American icon.
In any case, Reese still hasn't earned her oscar-stripes with me.
On a sidenote:
I think I'm regressing back to my preteen years. It's like I can't watch a movie without developing a school girl crush on the leading man! I swear, it's ridiculous! I finally got over the Jake Gyllenhaal affliction, but only to have it replaced by a Joaquin Phoenix one!
