CHAP 7
The pair finally left the mountains after hard day of traveling after a mild sunburn for Teijal, and a derange demon attack. Now it was just a trip through the forests before they reach Veldarah.
They travel several days before Teijal called for another break when they reached a particular sunny spot. Hell no she was going to travel through sun even with her cloak. She wasn't stupid.
In the meantime, she could perhaps find out why Rhen's gift was repressed again. Now that was strange. She had been around mages before and they just reeked of power. But the human.. she still felt it, but it seemed like the same as when she broke the bracelet.
"Rhen, do you trust me?" She asked the human while sitting down in the shade of a large tree.
A bit confused at the question, Rhen nodded.
"Good, come sit beside me."
As soon as the human complied, the vampire asked again for confirmation. "You do trust me correct? If so, relax and hold out your hands."
As soon as Rhen did so, Teijal gripped them in her cool hands. "Don't be afraid, I'm here." She muttered a few words in the vampiric language all vampires knew instinctively. She was releasing her twisted lifeforce and sending it to Rhen through their hands. Anytime now.
Instantly Rhen felt sadness and despair hit her like a charging wolf. It was eating her alive, biting chewing until all she felt was anger and destruction. She tried to pull her hands away but couldn't. Her breathing became shallow and dark memories violently rose up screaming forcing her to relive through each one.
Damn brat! why can't you do what you're told?!
Slut!
The feel of the whip smacking her innocent flesh.
The human began to shake, coldness racing through her. She vaguely felt Teijal's arms wrap around her and, rather then push away the vampire, pulled her closer.
Moldy pieces of trash for meals.
Rags for clothing.
Insults.
Punishments.
Whipping!
The vampire was her silent rock to which she hung. The twisting vines of her powers raged now having an outlet. Power and energy flowed through her; it was almost too much! Cold and warm at the same time. Duality. Slowly the memories sunk back into the dark pits of her minds as her lifeforce trampled them only to allow new memories to surface gently.
Her mother making bread.
Danny's smile.
Teijal's eyes.
The festivals.
The vampire's hands.
The memories converged to one point in her mind as she held onto her rock, but for another reason entirely.
Teijal continued to hold the human firmly as the feelings were unleashed. She wished she knew another less painful way. (Dark gods above, if only the rest of the vampires could see her now.) But her upbringing taught her pain can be a cruel but efficient master. Now the human's powers were released permanently. Through the connection, she felt something other then hate and anger; something that should have been unreachable to a damned spawn from hell. The need came back full force, not for blood but something sweeter. Now the devastating feelings left Rhen, she could feel it now. Teijal could not resist it, not when in her arms was her.
Her fangs sheathed as she dipped her head.
Rhen saw the vampire's face come closer to her. Connected.
There was no trumpeting or angels singing. The forest was relatively quiet with the standard chirping birds. The world continued to spin on its axis. But for the two women's realms, the world was shattering.
It was a gentle yet firm kiss. There were no fireworks or explosions, but cool lips meeting warm. But what feelings in it. Rhen felt blood race in her cold bones, a fire finally relit and burning brightly. But that was irreverent for she hungered for something entirely different. She leaned into the vampire's cool body, new feelings washing over her.
And she relished it.
The vampire broke away only to gaze in Rhen's eyes. This was different from her other exploits. No, this was much different. Before she could ponder on it, Rhen had smashed their lips together again. This time, coherent thought was extremely hard for both of them.
