The first front of the Mayan Apocalypse

Apologies for the late update - I know today's the big one, and lots of people on the other side of the world are counting on information so they can prepare themselves. The delay was, sadly, inevitable: I had to fight unicorn-riding zombies on the way to work. It was bad, sure, but not as bad as the joint Kangaroo/Gorilla Liberation Front and ( Read more... )

Oh yeah, midnight! The hours up until then were really freaky. LJ was a champion, though. Using nothing but a book as a shield, she managed to fend off and defeat cybernetically-enhanced pigeons armed with machine guns and machetes!

Man, you had all the fun there. Me? I got up, took a shower, went to work, dodged a kraken emerging from the Missouri River and went to a Christmas party. Pretty uneventful day, as apocalypses go.

Don't sell your town short - krakens are cool. I can imagine it clambouring out of the river and making its way to that big arch thingie, the setting sun in the background... very Mignola, very cool :)

Only one problem with that scenario: the Arch is on the bank of the Mississippi River, which was disappointingly devoid of kraken. The Missouri River kraken seemed more interested in finding his way upriver to wine country - he looked more than a little worked up, probably just wanted a beverage or two to relax.

The most exciting thing that happened near the Arch, meanwhile, was the flock of pterodactyls picking off unsuspecting commuters on the Poplar Street Bridge. And as any experienced St. Louis rush hour driver will tell you, we call that an ordinary Friday afternoon.
