Well having got through the week at work with the various mishaps such as sending the phone for a week it ended (I thought!) with a bang in that one of the Fee Earner's was throwing a strop about nobody doing her work, we were minus 3 secetaries and then the Receptionsit when how sick (funny has she always does that on a Friday!) which meant we all had to cover reception - so we weren't a happy bunch of bunnies come 5.p.m. I has a whopper of a headache - I didn't stop for lunch as I had a beastly brief to counsel to get out and it the weather was naff! No matter thought I, getting up bright and early on Saturday - I'm off to play trains at Cheltenham Race Course and sell lots of tickets and ice creams (we have recently installed an ice cream fridge and they are selling like hot cakes!).
So off I trot happy with the world. As I skipp merrily up to the gates (oh all right - walked up!) I was greeted by Steve and Al to of the guys from the area group who see to the gardens and other stuff on a saturday who greeted me with the news - The Station master hasn't turned up but there's a trainne signal man! Great - if there was not SM I couldn't sell tickets as he brings along the cash float. Luckily Bob turns up ten minutes later. Smiles all round and we check to see that the station is still there and I begin selling tickets - then we get a call from the signal box (complete with passed out signal man now) to annouce that the signalling was up the swannie and we couldn't get any trains into the station. ARGGGGGGGGH! So for the next hour I politely but firmly refuse to sell tickets explaining to the punters our techicial difficulties and pointing them in the direction of the ice creams etc. Eventually it got sorted and we were able to get the second train into the station (the other having turned back at Winchcombe) Fair dos to them - the marjotiy of the punters hung around and then brought tickets when we had sorted ourselves out and some decided to go to the other end of the line where there weren't any problems. So I sold everybody tickets and then came another phone call 'by the way - it's a desieal!' ARGGGGGGG some people had come because the timetable was all steam and they wanted a steam train ride. Fortantaly the other set was being pulled by a steam engine so eveybody was pleased.
But all I can say, next time a month has a Friday 13th in it I'm hibinating for at least a week!
I guess it can only get better!
